Russian vodka pipeline found into the European Union

COPS have smashed an illegal vodka pipeline flowing from Russia into the European Union.
The Kremlin’s oil pipelines to the West usually spark controversy – but now Estonian officials have revealed details of their four year probe into the illicit Russian firewater supply channel.

Eleven suspects have been charged over the ’Vodka Galore’ one mile underwater pipe which pumped the alcohol across the border from Russia into Estonia.

“It might sound weird and unbelievable but it’s a very real criminal case,” said prosecutors’ spokeswoman Mari Luuk.

The alleged smugglers face five years in prison if convicted.

The illegal pipeline was cunningly submerged in a reservoir located between Russia and Estonia near the town of Narva, she said.

Prices of vodka in Russia are a third cheaper than the ex-Soviet state of Estonia, which has been in the EU since May 2004.
