1. What happened was a travesty of democracy.
A pox on ALL their houses, because they've soiled OUR House: the House of Commons.

BTW, by "uniting " the left, what the article fails to mention is that Dion, Layton, Duceppe hate Harper to the core.

And that's why they toppled him.

The ending is just stupid. Harper did not "give" us Dion. He sought it out himself, after all, what does he really have to lose? He's stepping down in May, anyway.

If he couldn't win an election, why not go over "the people", and get it for himself?

This is embarrassing, altogether.

2. It's not a travesty of democracy, this is how democracy works.

No laws are being broken, the system is set up so that just such a thing could happen. I love to hear these cons crying about it though, even though they tried the same shit in 2004. Harper did give us Dion. Harper figured that because we just had an election he could pass some serious bullshit and the opposition would just have to suck it up and take it... they proved him wrong. Had Harper been less of a bullheaded jerk-off this all could have been avoided.

My sole issue is that an unelected official has the final say in all this. That needs to be fixed.

3. Agreed
However, they have to be supported by the Bloc, and we still don't know what they've been given, in order to prop up this coalition.

If it was just the Libs and NDP, it would be more palatable.

4. That is the major flaw in their plan
They can go ahead and do amazing things when in power.... but the cons will have whatever special deals they give to Quebec, over the rest of Canada, as serious ammo next election.

5. And that election will be
very interesting.

Last time around, voter participation was at, I believe, an all time low.

Now would be a good time to be in the polling biz. I think we'll start seeing a lot of them in the next few days/weeks....
