Listen to a few. And a few more. You may wonder "Why bother?" Well, listen. And go to youtube or Pandora for more, if you see why. If not, well, you'll find your way by another route, and then eventually even the apparently apolitical "Pleasures of the Harbor" and "Flower Lady" (if you find it) will touch your heart.

(edit one word - in my younger years she was the cookie lady, for Ochs, the flower lady)

1. My favorite Phil Ochs song is
Cops of the World.

Listen to it and see how little has changed is forty-plus years.

4. I suspect that was one of his happiest moments.
Listen to his "Love me, I'm a liberal" for his attitude toward those he encountered here in the US all to often.

(And others should follow through all the youtube links to get a fuller picture. Not just of Ochs, but of the kind of world we still live in today.)

5. "Outside A Small Circle Of Friends", too
I love Phil; in the end, he was a broken-hearted idealist. I'm going to go put on "Pleasures Of The Harbor" right now..
