3. It takes a broadbrush simplistic look at the various attacks.
Lumps them all into 'al-qaeda/9-11'. It is just more of the drumbeat for the war on terra.

9. i can see that but most political cartoons could be found offensive to some
Edited on Thu Dec-04-08 08:36 AM by ProdigalJunkMail
so on that note, i would have to agree. but it does make the point that terror-campaigns will continue to march on, regardless of and in many cases because of our intervention...and that no one is really immune.

7. To me, it less the image of the towers, but more the
narrow view of trying to explain all these attacks as if they were all 'al-qaeda' and the larger message of 'the global war on terra'. That is what I find offensive.

Damn these aging eyes. After magnifying, I agree, it is offensive.

That is why I deleted.

Only in Bush's mind did terror start on that day.

15. To me, it is developing this dangerous narrative,
That the Mumbai attacks, although far from the first or worst attacks in India's history, were their initiation to the 'global war on terra'. THis is the meme being repeated and reinforced everytime someone calls the Mumbai attacks "India's 9/11".

I get the strong feeling that there is a line of thinking being pushed throughout the media and by the heads of states, that are pushing India, with US support and involvement to war.

much like the so-called 'war' on terror. This artist is towing the line for endless war, IMO.

but somehow those countries failed to appear on the list.

My point is that the context is narrow, intellectually dishonest and doesn't include the largest state sponsor of terror in the World: the US.

20. It doesn't speak to me, so to speak...I get the message it wants to send
but that message rings false with me

Course, it may say something else to others

but it does seem to have a "911 changed everything" feel about it...that terror starts here and will keep going and going and going....and everyone is having a "911" and so we're all in this together, so join Bush's (and it will always be Bush's) war on terror

As if America was the first to be hit by terror attacks...as if Indian is experiencing its first ever dealings with terror attacks (or London or Madrid.....when that's just not the case)

I see Madrid and think of all the times fear was used..."Are the terrorists trying to influence our elections?" because everyone knows that all terror acts around the world happen just to influence America's elections. America being the end-all and be-all at the center of everyone's universe.

I find the narrative...and mind you, the narrative I see may not be the narrative another person sees....negative. It's just not working for me.

What binds us isn't that we can all be attacked...at least I hope not. That's a world...literally, a world of fear. If fear is what holds people-kind together, then we are all fucked.

42. I don't mind the plane.
The idea of the global war on terra, and that the Mumbai attacks mean India is now tied to it is what bothered me. It is another piece of the drumbeat, the idea that all terrorists are the same, and are all over the world, and it is up to us victims to fight them.

Also, the simplistic view that ignores previous attacks in India.
