4. Yesterday was my last day at work
I knew I was being laid off for three weeks, me and another member of our team on a very well developed software project that couldn't find a customer because of the downturn. I was an independent contractor. In the DC market in my skillset I was able to find a job. But yesterday the company I was with laid off 5 permanent employees, and its a small company. One was in IT, in tears and had listened to me vent before and I'm trying to help her find a job. Another co-worker, an excellent developer who was on my team is not a U.S. citizen but has legal status to work and he is not finding a job because the government contractors want U.S. citizens.

If you have to work in private industry it is very, very bad. I'll dispute anyone who says this isn't a depression.

9. What do you do?
What IT credentials/certs do you have?

Would you move (to a red state, and, thusly, help turn it blue)?

PM me.

7. You know, because THAT'S going to help things.
Jobs are the ONLY way this economy will recover. Short of that, look to be in a deep recession for a long time.

Oh wait, I guess I was in the mistaken belief that rich people actually CARE about saving the businesses they run into the ground.

10. Boom/Bubble/CRASH! Boom/Bubble/CRASH! Boom/Bubble/CRASH! Over and over . . .
But hey, let's continue with this stupid-assed methodology until it's proven RIGHT, because surely THAT'S a sensible idea. One day, it WILL WORK!! You'll SEE!!! YOU'LL SEEE!!!

Cities and states don't need manufacturing or other industries because the high-paying, high-benefit, high-job-security SERVICE sector will make up the difference!!!

Businesses don't need customers with disposable income!!!

Us wealthy people don't have to pay taxes!! WE need that money so we can create jobs and operate our businesses with honesty and responsibility!! TRUST us!

Unions never did anyone any good and job offshoring is great for the economy!!!

This is the GREATEST PLAN EVER!! GOD BLESS MILTON FRIEDMAN!!!

:sarcasm:
