210,000 Christmas lights. Computer animated and synchronized to music in Pittsburgh Pa
Edited on Thu Dec-04-08 02:27 PM by MiniMe
One of the most amazing light shows I have seen. I would hate to get his electric bill!

http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-157278 edited to add text from the link: This year we have taken decorating our house to the extreme, we have over 210,000 lights all computer animated and synched to music. It took us 3 months to hang the lights and over 6 months to do the computer programming.
This is our third year using our computer to control the lights

16. Tis the season to be tacky
but I understand bordellos strive to express it year round.

At least he picked better music this year.

8. Wish I could have done that programming

I thought that they had too much going on at once - overkill for the sake of overkill. I would have tried to make it much more thematic, assigning certain light sequences to specific instruments or specific riffs in the tune. The sequenced shows from previous years with the Trans Siberian Orchestra as the music are more to my taste.

Hell of a lot of work went into that!

10. I live down the road from a massive light display in MA.
http://www.lasalette-shrine.org/Christmas.html

Over 400,00 lights cared for by the resident Monks since 1953.

It's like our own little Vegas, complete with Traffic.

People get bussed in from all over the NE and Canada every year.

Oh yes.....I also vote there....LOL

I often wonder if they really make more in donations then it costs to run it.

14. Seems to me
that these folks have an abundance of Christmas spirit - not to mention the bucks to pay the electric bill for this display. I can't help but wonder whether or not they are going to donate a sum equal to or in excess of the expense involved in creating and running this display. Seems to me that would be a far better way to share the Christmas spirit in these troubled times.
