2. No Change. He Is A Pragmatist.
When did liberal thinking come to mean either/or, black/white; no nuance, no gray.

10. Most of DU is in the lower left corner of the lower left quadrant.
Like all good Americans, we seem to elect politicians far more autocratic and neo-liberal than ourselves. It seems to be tied up in our stereotyped regard for politicians. It's like the woman that thinks "all men are brutes" and then regards the men that aren't "brutes" as "unmanly." Likewise, it's like the man that thinks "all women are sluts" and then regards the women that aren't "sluts" as "unwomanly." We get trapped in our stereotypes.

One hell of an electioneering gimmick, what having already won the election at all...

14. I always found him right of center.
Edited on Thu Dec-04-08 10:21 PM by Marr
When the entire media started cooing about how great he was at the Democratic Convention a few years back, I assumed he was somewhere to the right of center-- or they never would've acknowledged him, let alone praised him. I thought he proved it repeatedly over the campaign season, particularly with his FISA vote. So no, I don't think he's changed.

I'm talking about the real center here, not the center as defined by the corporate media and the beltway. Their entire spectrum is contained in the area to the right of center. Anyone to the left of Jimmy Carter doesn't even exist as far as they're concerned.

16. I voted in this poll.....
but at this point I "trust" him.

Recognizing that genuine change doesn't 'come fast or easy'.

We are "well on the road", though, imHo...
