I'm so pissed--my sister just got laid off.
She was given a pink slip earlier this year by Yahoo, then after about 1 or 2 months, she found a new job working for the LA Times Online. (She's smart as hell, and knows Web Interface like anything.) Now, after only about 6 months on the job, she's out of a job for the second time THIS YEAR. And the official reason both times? Departmental downsizing.

I've been without a full-time job since earning my M.A. from NYU this Spring, but that's not the worst part. The worst part is that she's engaged to be married next year, and who knows what kind of monkey wrench this layoff throws into the works...

George W. Bush, you never sent a family member of mine into war. You never let any of my friends drown due to a slow response, or had an associate thrown into prison for no reason. Yet your starkly horrible presidency has personally affected me and my loved ones all the same. Years from now, when you're whoring yourself out to some Conservative PAC, or more likely, playing Golf in Pebble Beach, the media will dub you an elder statesman, a dedicated public servant, a kindly old man who's seen the error of his ways...

...but I will not forget. Not now, not ever.

3. My expectation is to be laid off tomorrow ...
I know Christmas isn't important to many here .... but, as a single mother the thoughts of a stressful Christmas (secondary to financial struggles)upsets me greatly.

Along with you I would like to thank Bush for the gift of this economy!

4. It's horrible...I actually had my first interview since July yesterday
and the fucking job pays 13 bucks an hour. Do I keep sitting at home driving myself crazy or take the job and feel like a shrub everyday. I'm not totally desperate yet but what if this is the best offer I'll get?

5. Just got a family e-mail
Kid sister and her hubbie -both laid off the same week
Kid brother just laid off.

We circled the wagons and canceled x-mas.
No more crappy gifts for kids who don't need or appreciate what they already have.
Charity starts at home.
Charity goes to family first.

6. My daughter got her M.A. two months ago, and her job with a law
Edited on Thu Dec-04-08 06:07 PM by usnret88
office ended the day before T'giving.

As one of the other posters said, we 'circled the wagons and canceled xmas" also. Grandson (daughter has been taking classes a really long time, one at a time) is freshman in college, daughter's other son is in high school. Told 'em all we are not expecting, nor do we want any sort of gifts other than perhaps a visit or two.

7. My firm sponsors a family thru a local charity every year for Christmas
As the coordinator today I got the list of things this family wants/needs. These are really, truly, needy families. One of the things on the list? "Quarters for the laundromat". I was absolutely speechless. Good thing no one else was around when I got this email. I totally lost my composure.

Thanks a fucking lot you miserable POS "president". As the poster above said, never EVER forget what the chimp has brought upon this country.
