4. Well - that is different from other reports - so glad to see that
% of ballots recounted 98.88%. Looks like the official site.
Why do I continue to see Coleman up by 300 or so?

5. This is NOT the correct tally
This has been brought up several times in other threads, and the response is always that people are misinterpreting the way data is being presented at the SOS website. According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Al is behind by 251 votes, subject to the finish of the tally and the results of the Canvassing Board on the challenged ballots.

8. Yes, I've seen the debate, but haven't paid too close attention
As far as the SOS website goes, I see

Percentage of Ballots Recounted = 98.88 %
Nov. 4 Ballots Cast for Norm Coleman 1195885
Nov. 4 Ballots Cast for Al Franken 1200533

Coleman trails by 4648 votes. Seems pretty straightforward to me!

15. Look at the date, Nov 4th
Coleman was ahead on Nov. 4th not Franken. Someone at the MN SOS has this mixed up.

27. it says Recount of Nov 4th ballots, not Nov 4th ballots
The kicker in this is that the original counts in the 26 yet-to-report precincts favor Coleman, but only by enough to reduce the Franken lead to 200 ballots. The ~6500 contested ballots and the missing envelope of ballots in Minneapolis W3P1 are the wild cards. I have it as a Franken win by 7 thousandths of one percent.

6. so what happens to the challenged ballots could still determine it - anyone know how many
votes (not precincts) might remain? e.g., are Ramsey and Hennepin finished now?

7. It looks like we've got a new senator
Each camp has challenged about as many ballots as the other, so the challenged ballots probably won't make any difference.

I believe two-thirds of one percent of 24 million is 160,000 votes yet to be recounted.

16. 24 million? We only had 2.8 million on Nov 4
But your numbers aren't any more out of whack than any of the others I've seen recently. The SoS website had Franken up by 11,000 this time Wednesday night.

By this time on Friday I'll bet that Coleman and Franken will be separated by fewer than 300 votes, a margin only slightly bigger than the proverbial gnat on an elephant's ass when compared to the 8,000 challenged ballots and pile of disallowed absentee ballots to be resolved.

13. Thanks for the update, but I caution people against celebrating too soon
This thing is not over. They still have to go through all the challanged ballots, figure out the mess with the missing ballots and then determine whether any of the rejected absentee ballots will be counted. Any of those things could trigger a lawsuit by either side at this point.

This happens to be the update.

This is not the first time I've poste from the SoS Website.

If the numbers had been 240000000000000000 to 5 in favor of Coleman. I still would have posted the SoS count.

As to the outstanding precincts...
Yes, because I read the whole website.
Which everyone else is free to do.

28. Yes, they originally favored Coleman, but not enough.
Franken wins by 200 votes, given the original numbers in the 26 precincts and that the challenged ballots break evenly and that Minneapolis W3P1 doesn't let the Supremes have an opinion on it.
