The election should've been an eye-opener for the beltway and all the financial whizzes. And maybe it was for 5 sec., then the old business as usual, everything old is new again syndrome, started kicking in. There should be no question that everything that needs to be done should be to help people and the country get back on their feet. But the Cons are still pursuing their dream of undoing everything Roosevelt did and the dems are still in waffling mode. They had better get a grip. People with hungry children and cold older folk become angry people and as of this morning the numbers are growing. It has been predicted for years now that hunger would lead to civil unrest but all that's been effectively done is to stop using terms like hungry and starving in favor of the diffusing term, food insecure.
It may take an uprising to correct the thinking in this country that bucks are more important than people and business is the true essence of life.
As for the Obama debate and whether he should do more...I don't know what more he can do without the legal authority the inauguration will bring. I'm sure he's doing what he can behind the scenes but until the criminal heads for his lavish digs in Dallas, the * hand is still on the signing pen.
