Palin's 'traveling makeup artist' paid $32,000 a month
Source: Raw Story

John Byrne
Published: Friday December 5, 2008

Yesterday, a National Journal report put Palin's total "accessory" and clothing tab at $180,000. Today a report put her total styling bill for hair and makeup at a whopping $110,000.

It gets better -- Palin's "traveling makeup artist" was paid roughly $32,000 a month for the final two months of the campaign.

Palin’s "traveling makeup artist" raked in $68,400 and her hair stylist netted more than $42,000 -- for roughly two months of work. To put that in perspective, makeup for Palin alone would have cost $410,400 if spread out over an entire year, and her hair -- $252,000.

And the repukes had the nerve to bitch about the price of John Edwards's $400 haircut.

25. Not true. If she were not an evil b****, we would probably
consdier her attractive. I did the first time I saw her picture, right after she was chosen as the Republican VP candidate. I was talking on the phone to my son, who is very political. He had called to say, "WTF?!" abotu McCain's choice. I said, "Well, at least she's pretty."

She didn't start looking unattractive to me until I had heard her speak enough times for her mindlessness, lack of knowledge, and general nastiness to become clear. Once or twice, a candidate can screw up and we can still put it down to pressure, exhaustion, whatever. But her mindlessness, lack of knowledge, and general nastiness were consistent over time, so there could be no excuses.

By then, all I could see was the sharpness of her nose, the pugnacious set of her jutting jaw, and her smirking sneer. Her hairdo--both the sloppy upsweep and the longer do with the bouffant puff on top--were always goofy looking, but they became genuinely repugnant by association once she became so repugnant.

I honestly believe that if her features were not associated in our minds with the ugliness of her personality and politics, we would consider her pretty, especially for a woman in her mid-forties. It is also true, though, that after the age of forty one gets the face one deserves, so the sneering, smirking, pugnacious set of her otherwise decent features does display an unpleasant spirit.

13. Oh, I never asked for anythin
but maybe a Diet Dr Pepper occasionally! these guys...these anonymous...JERKS are come out and say it to my face, there....Those clothes being reported are not mine. They belong to the RNC there, also, just like the lights and the stage.

(scolding tone borders on shrill, but the big hair softens the school marm thing)

Shame on them, there for that would be by many gotcha reportin'. Nobody's comin up to check on the clothes, there also, we gave those what we had, not too many of them, we spent the weekend the family Trig and Piper helped during half time, there, on the floor, sortin through those clothes that had been lent to me from the belly of that plane, there, but not in my closet. NOT in my closet, those are my clothes, here that I have on (fingers jacket). Come on, now

(pouty face)

...why the mean things? It's seemin sexist there, talkin about my clothes there...I had no control over what I wore, they gave me they told me to ...I was never asked... just a few things, there, to for the RNC, for gosh sake's...go shopping, also, never asked for a darn thing there. There again, I never went shopping also, the clothes were brought to me by the campaign as part of a strategy there, but also, I asked I wanted there too, to just go on out there to the American people and also...talk directly without the filter, there, also, of the gotcha media.

(bends down to stir prop moose stew while ignoring pleas of smallest girl child for attention. big smile now)

Also, we're just focused here on ALasKA, havin' fun on our snow machines there, again as I said and also, too, gettin the budget worked out and thinkin about cuttin wasteful spendin there, also, for the American people in this great continent of ours, founded by the Pledge of Allegiance there in the 1800's with our Christian fathers. Oh, I couldn't say what door God will open for me next but ya, when I heard from President Sarkozy there, I thought, there it is also my destiny if I were chosen by as a leader of this great nation to be it would an honor there, also...an honor to be asked. No blinkin there! God Bless ya'.

(wink. wink.)

Interview END. PA whisks prop stew away, nanny comes for little girl, Palin removes Hocky Mom outfit and is Prada-ed out for her foray on her snow machines with her gun. That's their girl.

17. I know it sounds outrageous but...
film make-up artists have daily rates -- when I was in the business, my rate was $800 a day. A well established, in demand make-up artist can make much more than that for a daily rate, especially when traveling or on location. Palin's make-up artist rate was around $1000 a day -- not unheard of at all -- the artist was with her seven days a week, probably working on her several times a day.

Yes, the money can be great, but, but you are being paid more for your ability to deal with the tremendous amount of bullshit that can go with the job than your technical skills. It is the reason I finally exited the business.

27. I've worked in film & theater & agree that's true... but it's not the money that's the irony here...
Edited on Fri Dec-05-08 04:50 PM by demodonkey

...it's the outrageous claims that she is just a regular "non-elite" mom who occasionally asks for a Dr. Pepper.

And I will bet that Mommy MooseCrap can dish the tremendous amount of bullshit out with the best of any of the "Hollywood Elites" who employ hair and makeup people at your level.

Arrgh.

In the meantime I know plenty of actors (and politicians) who have learned how to pull off their own makeup and hair no problem, and they generally look great.

32. Heavens no. My total cost would be $250.
That would have been $250 for the initial shave. After that, to keep costs down, you'd have to do the upkeep yourself. Otherwise, if the RNC wanted to pick up daily maintenance costs, I would have soaked them and shared the ill-gotten booty with you.

One decent hair & makeup artist would have worked. She's only got two huge flaws in her appearance, and with careful arrangement of the hair and wardrobe you can cover a set of horns and a tail fairly effectively.

I recall Bill getting bagged on about a haircut, too. And Edwards? $400 cut seems like chicken feed compared to old Gosh Darn It Palin's excesses.
