13. Great. One of the most embarrassing moments of my life.....
(and, trust me, there have been many) was watching the homicide verdict on these huge screens in the atrium of The World Trade Center, Dallas. I had a couple of showrooms there, and was watching from the fourth-floor balcony.

There must have been a thousand people on the floor, all watching.

When the verdict was announced, a huge cheer went up.

I absolutely could not believe what I was hearing. I made up my mind, then and there, to get out of the Gift and Leisure industry. I had cut my teeth on that business and was one of the best-known people in the trade.

And I walked away from it and never looked back.

Fuck Orenthal James Simpson. I hope he rots in solitary. But I hope his heart doesn't give out. I want him to serve every miserable second of his sentence.

6. the idiot gave them another crack at him
I have not kept up with this case at all so probably should just shut up, but if I remember correctly no one got hurt, the brokers got their stuff back (or will) - if I'm right on that then Juice is going up the river for the great sin of being stupid beyond all belief.

8. Sorry but society doesn't need people like OJ walking free
Because of my being house bound due to an injury I watched his whole trial of the murders of his wife and Ron Goldman. It was obvious that he was guilty of that and I'll go to my grave believing it. I think I went into shock when they read the verdict. The night of the murders late when they showed him at the airport, I believe it was, I commented to my wife later that morning that he is the one that did it. I could just tell by his body language, he was guilty all over. I never have seen a more guilty acting person before those murders nor since.
Peace and many nighmares to you OJ, I think you earned it, you deserve it.

11. I had refused to watch one moment of the trial, or to read one word about it--I knew he was guilty
from the moment I heard about him traveling to chicago.

when the verdict came in, as much as I wanted to see him go down, all I could think of was the riots after the rodney king verdict, and I didn't want to see that happen again. and, I was grateful that the taxpayers of CA would no longer be on the hook for his safety.

may he receive EVERYTHING he deserves. I hope that the goldman and brown families can find some peace at last.

Honestly, it didn't seem THAT far fetched that the LAPD could frame a black guy. And Cochrane did a good job of presenting reasonable doubt. Also, the prosecutors did a crappy job.

Of course, in the years since, especially the 'If I did it' book, its obvious he was guilty as hell.

21. I agree with all that
but I had a sense of his guilt from early on and having that I could see the defense for what it was. Its a shame that it has to be this way but I feel no pity for him. I'm just happy he's off the streets now.

22. If I had been on the jury I would have said he was not guilty
Like I said, Cochrane was very good and he did an excellent job of planting the seeds of doubt. I think the jury felt he probably did it, but it wasn't certain, by any means, so they let him go.

The only thing that OJ prooved about color and justice is that when you got green you can get off easily.

14. I remember the verdict on the murders.
Edited on Fri Dec-05-08 05:56 PM by sherbear
We had one television in the common area where I worked so we all walked down to hear it. How stupid were we? I was so shocked, but should have known the fix was in. Silly me.

I feel this has all to do with the miscarriage of justice against the Brown & Goldman families, but good on the current jury for putting this arrogant man where he belonged many years ago.

24. Cut Mr. Simpson some slack, he took too many shots on the football field
His mental state is what we can expect from the soldiers coming home from Iraq that have been in explosions. They seem to be functioning at first, but go down hill later in life.

The societal interactions we have seen in OJ will be repeated by many more Veterans.
