Officers arrested a 23-year-old man in the decapitation of Mr. Buck, a beloved deer at Bear Creek Pioneers Park's wildlife sanctuary who authorities have since learned fought back as he was attacked last month.

Brandon Eugene Gregory was arrested at his apartment late Friday by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department officers and Harris County Precinct 5 deputies. He is charged with taking a wildlife resource without landowner consent — a state jail felony offense. His bond is set at $5,000.

Mr. Buck's severed head was recovered in a white chest freezer at Gregory's apartment in the 13300 block of West Road, said Sgt. Johnny Longoria with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Special Investigations Unit at a press conference at Beer Creek Park Saturday afternoon.

Along with the tools used in the slaying, Longoria said authorities also recovered the bodies of two additional improperly tagged deer on the apartment patio that had been taken from an adjoining county.

4. I hope he is proud of himself.
Attacking a tame buck. What was he going to do, mount the head and make up some wild hunting story?

5. His bond is set at $5,000? What a joke
Until we hurt these parasites of the environment in the wallet, wildlife won't have a chance. But true to form we will let these assholes off with a wrist slap until the species just dwindle away to nothing.

With some luck, Obama will appoint Scientists to head NOAA, EPA, USF&WS to put some teeth in wildlife protection laws.

For penalty, this guy should be made to stand guard outside the Baghdad Green Zone and see how he likes getting shot at.

6. I agree that this guys bond is too low but,
deer are a long ways away from "dwindling away to nothing."

8. The guy hunts.
Why should he care whether the deer was tame or not?

11. about 20-25 years ago, some illegals went bow-hunting at a zoo in our town...
when the staff came in to open in the morning, they found them trying to clean and gut the elk that they had bagged.
