Poll question: I'm not watching Meet the Press any longer, are you with me??
I've had it. Throughout the entire MSM, all we get are Keith and Rachel. Now they put abject human failure David Gregory as the host of Meet The Press. I guess the Rethugs wanted a human whipping post and they got what they wanted.

1. I haven't watched Press the Meat in four years or so except in rerun
when something actually happened (about twice a year)

2. Other
I have barely watched it since Cheney was on there lying his ass off. I read DU on Sunday morning, and catch highlights on Youtube.

3. I don't watch...so I'm with you
it's no wonder David Gregory went off the cliff shortly after getting his own show.

4. I never bought into it or the other Sunday morning shows.
But watching them now in such a partisan atmosphere is not only destructive, but masochistic.

Listening to pundits talking over pundits isn't the best way to gain information.

5. I'll give David Gregory a chance
I maintain some sense of loyalty to him from the pressure he often applied to Mike McConnell during the White House press briefings of 2005 & 2006. I like him a lot in those days, and I remember that many others here did too. I understand that MTP is not a lefty show and think that David Gregory may be a good fit for NBC's requirments for the show. We'll see. I'm willing to give him a chance.

7. Other - I can't recall ever having seen it
I don't watch a lot of TV and most of what I do watch is only for entertainment purposes so I watch 90% of it when it comes out on DVD. I prefer to get my news and commentary from the web.

8. Nope. I might tune in come 2010 or 2012 when some of the more interesting candidates are on.
Otherwise, I don't need to see David Gregory lobbing outdated poll numbers and right-leaning "opinions" at his Democratic guests while sucking up to his Republican guests.

9. I won't bother watching with that clown, Gregory, at the helm.
What? David Gregory is a comedian on his ridiculous MSNBC show for the last several months and now he's supposed to be a "serious" journalist?

Press the Meat was barely worth watching with Russert. Gregory is just a joke. Buh bye, PTM!

14. Ok so I watched on occasion, if it is a guest I want to see
I will not bother with David Greggory seeing him dancing with karl rove at the press dinner event a couple years ago...nope, nada, never, nien, no. can I be any clearer? I still get queasy even at the thought.
I watch the local am nbc news for the weather, Today show most of the time for the guests and light news.I would watch it for real news, but most of the real news I keep up on is online.

20. He actually SAID
""There's a lot of critics ... who think that, if we did not debate the president ... if we did not stand up and say, this is bogus, and you're a liar, and why are you doing this, that we didn't do our job. And I respectfully disagree. It's not our role."

He said it on Hardball

15. I'll likely continue watching it at the same irregular intervals that I always have
I usually don't get up that early on Sundays, but catch MTP a few times a year. Gregory hosting it doesn't make that big of a difference to me; from what I've seen of him, he doesn't seem to be substantially more biased to the right than the late Tim Russert was or than recent temporary host Tom Brokaw is.

16. I finally watched it last week
and it seemed more like "meet the rightwing talking point" to me. So I passed tonight. Besides that Kirk was getting court-martialed and I wanted to see his lawyer's impassioned speech. Man vs. machine. "I demand it!"

Edited on Mon Dec-08-08 06:51 AM by annabanana
a liar.. So when a politician gets on MTP and flat out LIES with a straight face, "Dances with Rove" will not confront him.

He has already told us he won't.

from Newsday (subscription excerpt):

But Olbermann actually cares

Newsday - Long Island, N.Y.
Author: EMILY HERZLIN
Date: Sep 14, 2008
Start Page: A.45
Section: OPINION

Olbermann was demoted last week from his election anchor chair at MSNBC, supposedly because he displayed a liberal bias. But all he does is look at facts and call people out on their lies. He even has a sense of humor. Politics can be a depressing business, and sarcasm can shine a spotlight on moments of clarity.

After showing a clip of Sarah Palin supporting the Alaska Bridge, which she now says she opposed, this is what Olbermann said:

"By the way, as of tomorrow, every time Senator Palin repeats one of her standard lies about the Bridge to Nowhere or the plane she sold on eBay that she didn't sell on eBay, or the fired chef she didn't fire, I will donate $100 to charity. It will be $300 if she somehow says she sold the chef on eBay."

His replacement in the anchor chair, David Gregory, said recently on "Hardball," "There's a lot of critics ... who think that, if we did not debate the president ... if we did not stand up and say, this is bogus, and you're a liar, and why are you doing this, that we didn't do our job. And I respectfully disagree. It's not our role."

Where's the journalism there?

I used to watch whenever a Dem was on. After Timmy, I lost my desire to watch the Reich-wing circle jerk.
