So what do we have now?
I'm 44 years old. All of my life I've paid into a system that guaranteed me benefits.

I've been told that I can expect a Government retirement benefit of about $1500 a month.
g

Now I'm reading that my 'retirement' is gonna be about living under a bridge and eating Friskies Buffet Cat Food to survive.

I'm unemployed since February. My unemployment checks ran out in August and I've been living on savings since then.

I'm not a 'duplicate' in the system. I'm just a guy who can't find a job.

According to the Right Wingnuts I don't want to work.

What do I do about that?

I don't qualify for unemployment, I only have enough savings to get me through this month.

What is the solution for my situation?

1. You don't qualify for the extension?
Why not?

2. I'm not there yet...
but I would recommend getting in touch with the Social Security Department, and apply for everything you can.

3. I'm self employed with minimal savings, bit older than you. I know. What now.
My business is still going, but barely and I don't know for how much longer. And since I'm self employed I have no unemployment benefit possibilities.

It sucks and is very scary.

Thoughts for you. Why don't you qualify for unemployment? (I am sure you know your situation better than I know your situation and sorry for asking, just thinking may think of something else). What to do? I am hoping Obama starts some sort of jobs corps thing. I am sure you have talked with your local employment people, I don't know.

It sucks and is very scary and I wish you the best of luck.

4. I've been thinking about the phrase "service economy" all night.
Suddenly I realize how I felt when I first heard it. A kind of volunteer sacrifice of the country as we knew it.

I just don't know.
