How could Babs have kissed the Murderous Chimp?
Edited on Mon Dec-08-08 09:53 AM by npincus
Art may "transcend politics", but does art transcend war crimes, and causing the deaths of over a million innocents? OK, I'll cut her some slack... the monkey DID kiss her, but she kissed him BACK. BLEEEEEECH. WTF?

I don't get it. I would kiss a pile of steaming shit before I would kiss that THING. She certainly knows what he has done.

Anyone care to defend La Streisand?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/12/07/barbra-streisand-visits-t_n_149133.html

WASHINGTON — Barbra Streisand got an awkward kiss on the cheek from the president, and yes, she gave him a smooch back.

Streisand, a vocal critic of President George W. Bush, was a guest Sunday at the White House just before one of Washington's few A-list events: the Kennedy Center Honors.

"Art transcends politics this weekend," the longtime Democrat said beforehand. Still, she said it would have been "lovely" if she could have received the award while President-elect Barack Obama was in office.

2. He's our President. What are you going to do?
I've thought about this before. I'd shake his hand and wish him well.

"Art transcends politics this weekend"

Yep.

13. could have done a Merkle -
"Gahh! What the fuck do you think you are doing!"

(OK, so that's a liberal translation of her expression.)

17. Yes, I agree...
...with both you and Streisand. I actually would commend both parties for not politicizing the Kennedy Center honors. (The commending of the Bush administration is extremely grudgingly given.)

3. Knee-walking drunk would not excuse such a thing. And it looks like she is upright.

4. When in Rome, and its burning to the ground, if everyone else is fiddling?
sorry, I had a germ of a joke there, but I lost it in the tangle.

In defense of Babs, what else you gonna do? punch him in the groin? although perhaps temporarily satisfying, getting wrestled to the ground by goons is not so much.

5. She's a pro, that's how
I'm sure she has kissed a lot worse in her climb to the top--that's what comes from being in the "business". You have to learn to schmooze with people regardless of what you think of them.

And she wasn't kissing Bush, she was kissing the POTUS.

8. Streisand is a class act.
Dubya likes to be forward with high-profile women. He likes to give shoulder massages to foreign leaders of Old Europe. He evidently likes to smooch top-drawer American singers.

She smooched back because that's what you do in some social circles. My guess is she could outsmooch that little weasel any day of the week.

11. Read the body language
Smirk's neck is thrust forward as far as it will reach, so that he can plant the kiss on Streisand (who has, you will note, kept her head straight up - she is not reaching to kiss him). I'd say the smooch was all Smirk's doing and Streisand went along so as not to embarrass him. She's a very classy lady.

14. "Holy fuck" exclaimed Streisand "I thought it was Josh goofin' on me."
"Besides I needed a drink and his breath is at least 90% proof."
