1. Sorry, the blame for the vote is entirely the repukes and
the three dems who voted against the loan. And boycotting LV over this is just silly- though I can think of good reasons to stay away from that hell hole.

2. Nobody's buying anything anyway.
How do you stage a boycott when nobody's spending any money?

3. The 'pubs are to blame, however...
Senator Reid needs to grow some nice, big cojones of iron to replace his little soggy grapes. When I lived in Vegas, I voted for him way back in the late 1990's. This is the first vote I've cast for a Democrat that I've regretted. :(

4. Problem is, even if I thought that was a good idea, Las Vegas sucks.
Edited on Fri Dec-12-08 09:49 AM by PeterU
No offense to any Las Vegans, but it's just a cultureless, tacky pit of humanity sucking up water in the desert. Why so many people go there in the first place is a mystery to me.

7. Reid's nay vote last night was a procedural one and he changed
it to an "aye" vote in the final tally.

That sort of procedural shenanigan means the bailout isn't dead, just taking a nap.

9. The repubs actually had control of the majority of the votes
The "majority" that Reid held was 51-49, that included 2 independents. Obama resigned his seat, Kennedy is still out sick, and Kerry is overseas. That means that Reid only had 48 votes max on his side.

I don't particularly like Reid as Majority Leader, but on this vote, I don't blame Reid. I blame the repubs. In January, when Reid has a real majority, we can blame him if something like this doesn't pass.

15. Reid voted No so he could move to reconsider
To move to reconsider the vote, you must be on the losing side, which the No votes were.
