Operation Hopes To Curb Teen Drug Abuse

TITUSVILLE, Fla. -- The Titusville Police Department will swap $5 gift cards for prescription drugs in an attempt to prevent teenagers from abusing the medicine.

Officers partnered with CVS and Walgreens to host "Operation Medicine Cabinet," which will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Searstown Mall, located at 3550 S. Washington Ave. in Titusville.

The first 400 people to turn in unused prescriptions will get a gift card, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.

The program is a part of the police department's ongoing effort to prevent youth from abusing prescription drugs.
