Billboard in San Diego: Christian Church Apologizes for Prop8!
Crack open a cold can of awesome and get a load of the Mission Gathering Church's billboard in San Diego, which reads:

"Mission Gathering Christian Church is sorry for the narrow-minded, judgmental, deceptive, manipulative actions of those who took away the rights and equality of so many in the name of God."

I saw the billboard last night on my way to dinner. It's on one of the busiest thoroughfares in San Diego.

Asshole repugs have bankrupted our state and our city.

And STILL the fucking voters here keep electing these corrupt, defecit spending, jagoff republicans. Then, when someone like Donna Frye or Mike Aguirre actually has the nerve to ask where the hell all the money is going, the fucking union-trib and the local news stations fling shit at them like a group of rabid chimpanzees.

They have been running diego on the cheap for so damn long, that it's finally come around and bitten us on the ass, and everyone keeps acting surprised.

Same with the state. We are so fucked there. My wife is a social worker and most of their budget is from the SOC. They are making them take unpaid furlough days, have a hiring freeze, and are actually talking about paying them in IOU's!

10. Perfect summation of the Union-Tribune
What a POS rag that is. I wouldn't use it to line the litterbox.

11. Being an ultra RW ultra conservative mouthpiece is a long proud tradition with that POS.
That has always been a far, far right-wing rag, right back to when they published article after article back in the thirties to try and help to bust up the longshoreman's union.

It's a truly disgusting piece of shit, and has been for decades. Our cities version of the Washington Times.

21. I still remember submitting a LTTE in the 80's
And they edited it to say almost the opposite of what I intended.

When I called to object they claimed it was just for length, grammar, spelling, etc. Well, it came out almost the same length, and there was nothing wrong with my spelling, grammar, etc.

I hope they will now work just as hard to get equal rights for everyone as they did to take them away.

It's rare that you see moderate Christian organizations take a bold, public stance on a controversial issue.

12. Maybe they see that a lot of us are moving away from the area with this kind of crap!
Edited on Fri Dec-12-08 02:36 PM by calipendence
I have to admit that driving around my neighborhood right before I moved to Oregon a few weeks ago, that I was sickened by all of the pro prop 8 signs on people's lawns, and that solidified my decicion to leave the area. Also hearing how a plane crashed into a house not that far from where I was this last week also makes me glad that I got out of there...

Though, the first weekend of potentially having snow come down where I live since the 80's is something that I'm pondering now too! :)

16. Understand.....
I made a simular trek from San Diego to Seattle last year, (damn, there are a LOT of San Diego ex-pats in the Pacific Northwest. They need to start opening up Rubios here. Or some *.bertos.......)

You get used to the snow. :-)

I do like the Noodles and Company chain up here though, which we didn't have down there. So there are some good tradeoffs!

I actually miss some of the Turkish restaurants I'd found down there in San Diego (The Birdhouse, Pasha's, etc.).

I just found a "Doner Kebab" place here, but haven't had a chance to sit down for a full meal yet of the real special dishes, and it's more "Germanified" than perhaps real Turkish food. Kind of like what Europeans might feel if they ate at Taco Bell as a "Mexican" restaurant in Europe.

Good for them, but I'm guessing it won't be up for long.
