Elephants 'die earlier in zoos
A new study comparing wild, captive and working elephants has found that living in zoos can significantly shorten the animals' lives.

4. Zoo habitats should be large enough and realistic enough
that as far as the elephant is concerned it *is* in the wild. Except for the no predators and vets-on-call benefits.

If I was an elephant I would be more than happy with living in the Kilimanjaro Safari area of Disney's Animal Kingdom, for example. It looks and feels just like Africa.
