'03 Ford Ranger 4 cylinder
30.0074 miles per gallon. Hows them apples???

My neighbor recently bought this Ranger I speak of and this was his first fuel mileage test. Told me that he was conscience of his mileage as he drove those 400 miles that he used to check the mileage with but felt that if he wanted he could have improved on that some. Sounds like pretty good gas mileage for what it is. Oh, and a few of those miles were while he was pulling an old pickup bed trailer hauling limbs out of his yard. I'm impressed.

I have a 99 ranger 4 cylinder and I only get about 20-23 mpg. If I'm lucky I can get 26. And those are highway without towing anything.

8. I have a '96 and mine's about the same
It averages in the 23-26 mpg range, depending on how fast I am driving and other things.

7. I'll do that.
This is a guy who has not owned a ford product until he purchased this one here about a month ago. Tells me that because of me and my bragging on ford products he bought this truck. They have an '05 corolla that will, according to them, be replaced with a focus wagon come spring. Go Ford, Go America.

9. This is very interesting to me....
I've owned mostly Ford products. My two four cylinder rangers were the older carbureted models, 2 liter 84 and 88 models, and the fuel economy wasn't that good. I owned a 90 Aerostar van with a 3 liter fi v/6 that gave me 28 mpg highway, and was still running well at 160 thousand miles. My 93 Taurus also had a 3 liter v/6 and was still running when I said goodbye to it at 265 thousand miles. My current 95 ranger xlt is a four liter v/6 2wd and the mileage really sucks, I'm lucky to get 20 mpg highway,it does however, have enough power to pull my boat up a pretty steep ramp. I had a 5 liter F150 that got about the same mileage as this Ranger. I might consider getting a four cylinder Ranger, and a smaller lighter boat. I have bought Fords mostly, because I had family that worked at the Cleveland engine plant. (retired now) My fords have served me well!! My current daily driver is a (Hold on to your hat) 87 Chevy spectrum (Isuzu)that I inherited...It does get 33 mpg around town, I've had motorcycles with bigger engines than this....

4. Yep and my 1995 4-banger Dodge makes up 35 mpg.
Between city and highway mileage, it averages about 31.5 mpg (rough estimate).

My next car will be an electric.

5. Rangers are indestructible. I had a '98 six cylinder that
passed through my family and was finally given to charity,I'm sure it's still out there somewhere.

but that most people got sold one way or another on at least having a slant 6 or a V-8 if they could, they wanted to be sooooo over-powered it was silly.

11. I had a 93 Nissan Hardbody PU with the 2.4 12 valve engine.
It got 29 mpg and had far more power than my brother's 95 Mazda PU with a 2.3 four banger (same thing as a Ranger) which got about the same mileage.
