5. Nichols:
Brian Gene Nichols (born December 10, 1971) is known for his escape and killing spree in the Fulton county courthouse in Atlanta, Georgia on March 11, 2005. Nichols was on trial for rape when he escaped from custody and murdered the judge presiding over his trial, a court reporter, a Sheriff's Deputy and later a Federal agent. A huge manhunt was launched in metro Atlanta and Nichols was taken into custody 26 hours later. The prosecution charged him with committing 54 crimes during the escape and he was found guilty on all counts on November 7, 2008.

2. For the rest of his life he will get 3 square meals a day
Gym facilities, probably an education.

Criminals like him deserve hard labor until they kick the bucket, from sunup to sundown.

Too many people died by the hands of that bastard.

6. I guess lockdown 23 hours a day isn't enough...
because as an escape risk, that's what he'll get.

7. I wish the state had accepted life in prison to begin with
instead of insisting on death penalty. Would have saved millions of $$ in extra defense expenses. Last I heard the public defenders office was broke because of this case.

I'm glad the victims' families will get some closure.

9. that's true.
I'm sort of amazed that the jury deadlocked on the DP. Happy, though.

12. true enough.
Davis needs, at bare minimum, a new trial and the DP off the table.

11. if there was ever a case where the death penalty was warranted...
this was it...i know there are lots of people here VEHEMENTLY against the death penalty and i can't say that i am all that fond of it either. this guy was the perfect definition of predator. he hunted people down and killed them...with no reason...he could have walked out of that jail after the initial assault, but no, he encountered people along the way an slaughtered them...and if you got to hear the phone call from the jail that was played as a part of the trial evidence you could hear him clearly say, "yeah, i did that shit and i would do it again" and then he went on to say that if he had the chance to do it over he would have done it a little differently...by going to the third floor of the courthouse and killing more people...

13. there's the thing, though.
I don't believe that it's ever warranted, even for a vicious fucker like Nichols.
