Senator Bunning, Former Tiger Pitcher, Told not to Come to Detroit
Edited on Fri Dec-12-08 10:34 PM by louis c
Senator Jim Bunning was dis-invited to a memorabilia show because of his back stabbing, treasonous vote against the U.S. auto makers.

They should remove his number from the ball park, also. He's an asshole.

1. I believe Bunning does not have full control of his faculties.

2. He was an overrated pitcher anyway
As far as I am concerned, if you don't win 300 games or have 3000 strikeouts, you have no business being in the Hall of Fame, unless there is a damn good reason. And one perfect game in 1964 doesn't meet the bar.

3. They Kicked him from a Schedule Baseball Signing.... Good for them..Story here

TAYLOR, Mich. (AP) -- Jim Bunning was the toast of Detroit when he threw a no-hitter for the Tigers in 1958.

Now, after opposing a federal bailout for the auto industry, the Republican senator from Kentucky can't even get a gig signing autographs at a suburban sports-card show.

Bunning was to appear Sunday at the Gibraltar Trade Center in Taylor. Fans would have paid $35 for Bunning to sign a baseball and $55 to sign a bat.

But Bunning was kicked off the schedule after he helped derail an auto-industry loan package in the Senate Thursday night.

Owner Jim Koester says he can't support someone who voted against Michigan's economic well-being.

4. Payback's a bitch, isn't it?
I hope this chump can look back and remember that when he was a pitcher, the stands were full of cheering working class fans who paid his salary.

I hope that autograph he put on the senate bill was worth a lifetime of achievement and glory down the drain.

Good bye Jim Bunning.
May we never forget.

K&R Thanx for posting.

7. Fans would have paid $35 for Bunning to sign a baseball and $55 to sign a bat.
Then hit him with it.

5. I'm surprised he'd have the nerve to even go there.
Is he so ignorant he thinks that's ok? Just pretend he didn't sell out the people there? What a total lack of integrity.

Detroit, by contrast, showed they don't fawn to traitorous jerks. I'm impressed by that because sports holds a lot of sway over people.

12. Uninviting him to the show is fine......
....but cleansing his number (and on-field deeds) from the stadium is Stalinistic.

21. Send a message.
You're not a Hall of Farmer in our eyes.

Our lives are more important than your fame.

The ball park is not a government institution. It serves the fans of a private company. They can choose to honor who they want for whatever reason they want. As a private company, it is in their best interest not to associate with anyone who would destroy the fabric of their city.

16. Bunning must have been beaned by a hot shot back up the middle.
Probably more than once. Nobody could be that stunned otherwise.

They need to know that the people are paying attention and that they work for us.

They need to know that their actions have consequences.
