With a true universal health care plan, workers will no longer be tethered to the whims of a boss who "may or may not" offer health coverage, and who may or may not pay part of it.. The boss gets to decide the choice YOU have, and the availability of it.. The boss gets to "charge" you whatever he/she thinks you can afford to pay, because you only have their word when it comes to the actual cost of the coverage offered.

No matter the "cost" it's almost always going to be less expensive than the option of quitting and starting your own business, or looking for work elsewhere, and finding out you do not qualify for their medical plan.

WITH universal health care that continues for the worker, employed or not, the worker is suddenly "free to move about the cabin"..he/she can leave that low paying or loathesome job, for a more interesting one, or one that may even pay less, but is more satisfying.

When bosses fear the loss of trained workers, they may just be ready to start paying more, in the form of wages...to keep good employees..or to attract new employees.

a boss who whined about "having to pay $400 a week for YOUR medical coverage" could hardly say "no", when you remind him/her to be sure and add that $400 into your paychecks..

Employees who are free from fear of losing medical coverage, are also more likely to want to unionize, and have more leverage.

So instead of forming commiseration unity-circles and clinging to each other..with universal health care, employees can form high-5 circles and congratulate each other for coming together in unison, for fair wages, and work conditions.

5. We're getting Universal Health Insurance, not Single Payer Health Care
Pay to play healthcare.

I don't know if "we" can fight the powerful interests aligned with Daschle et.al. on this.
