I've just been robbed
and so have you and 95% of the rest of the country. Most of them just don't know it yet.

I have to hand it to the republicans. For the past 7 years I believed they were seriously trying to turn us in to a far right theocracy. Never imagined the real agenda was to rob us blind.

Instead we have our homes being seized by the banks, our 401Ks turning worthless, our jobs being sent abroad, and as a final "fu** you" a death blow being dealt to the last major source of organized labor in the country because the SOBs dared to make the rediculous amount of 50K a year. It is a dog and pony show folks. The entire automaker "crisis" was a setup to kill off organized labor. We are being played for fools once again.

This will likely go down in history as the greatest theft ever successfully pulled off in human history. Large scale organized theft on a national and global level.

1. You Never Imagined?
Oh well, live and learn I guess. Sorry to sound flippant but some of us have just been waiting for the rest to wake up. And it is not like their plans were exactly secret.

3. I never imagined it with bushco, no
I saw them as primarily being fascists with the entire agenda being about destroying civil rights. I saw them as fools for the last 7 years, and never thought they would be able to pull off anything of any real importance. It's only been in the last year I've realized they are actually far more skilled criminals than I gave them credit for.

6. Well, I can see how their general ineptness could have fooled
you but their main agenda has been quite available (at least on-line) and they have carried most of it out flawlessly (with the American public's complicity).

Edited on Sat Dec-13-08 03:32 AM by TwixVoy
managed to pull off this. Unbelieveable. In any other country there would be riots in the streets.

I suppose I just never imagined they'd be able to pull it off. They've delivered the death blow to america. Guess I couldn't fathom they would actually do it.

22. That's becasue they're not really clowns, jokers. or screw ups
But they were happy to let you think so. Made their true job much easier.

When ever someone said bushco was stupid, I always said - no, he's not. He's mean, and clever, and coniving.

24. A lot of their supposed ineptness was calculated. Their aim was to drown government in a bathtub.
Like you, I'm surprised that so many people didn't recognize the real plan, but the corporate-owned media has done a number on this country. Serious propaganda for more than a century has convinced people that up is down and red is green.

Most of Bush's plans have been "mission accomplished." What we perceive as total failure was the object of their game from the beginning.

7. There are two givens in American politics
1. The Democrats will never take away anybody's guns.

2. The Republicans will never outlaw abortion.

Corollary: Yes, their real agenda was to rob us blind.

9. It is simply the same shock doctrine applied by Pinochet
to Chile, being applied to the US. We will be paying for that Wall Street bailout for centuries. Corporation have effectively pushed their debt onto us taxpayers. Now the uber wealthy have to find a country where the pitch forks wont get them.

10. Only problem I have is I don't think anyone has gotten by with anything just yet
it may seem like it, just on the banking money check out hank paulsons body language the next time you see him and tell me that mo fo won't spill the beans on his comrads just as soon as hes taken into a dark room and someone hollers boo. he'll squeal like a pig under a gate, sing like a canary. This is the, as you put it, the greatest theft but it isn't finished yet the cops haven't broken in the door but its coming and soon. Obama is in this for real and he knows very well what is happening around him and he will not let us down.

12. Jefferson said, and I quote:
"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies . . . If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around . . . will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered . . . The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." -- Thomas Jefferson -- The Debate Over The Recharter Of The Bank Bill, (1809)

about Republican vs. Democrat, liberal vs. conservative, gay vs. straight, Christian vs. everybody, black vs. white

Those were all just artificial divisions to keep us distracted while they robbed us blind. As long as they could drive a thousand different wedges between us, they could keep us from realizing that we were all victims and were all in it together.

It is and always has been about the corporations and the ultra-wealthy against the rest of us.

While we've been tearing our hair out over Hillary vs. Obama and Obama vs. McCain and Sarah Palin and Prop 8 (not that none of those was important), the real thing was that we are all being robbed blind. Now, they're not even pretending any more. They are just sucking money out of the treasury as fast as they can and they're laughing in our faces as they do it.

23. You know I saw that south park episode about obama/mccain robbing us
I thought it was stupid.

Now that I think about it... if they would have just had a CEO and Bush robbing us while we were focused on the election it would have been 100% true.

20. They have been doing it for
28 years. It has always been about robbing us blind. The "theocracy" stuff and the "social issues" have always been the bread and circus to keep us entertained while our pockets were being picked. It started the day Reagan was sworn in and except for a brief break under Clinton, has continued non-stop since. This is just the final thrust before they lose access.

26. There was no break under Clinton.
Deregulation, Privatization of Commons, "Free Trade" (Union Busting), Selling Off American Manufacturing, Concentrating Wealth into fewer, less-accountable hands....ALL continued and accelerated under Clinton.

29. Yes, some aspects proceeded apace
but many I know became modestly wealthier during the Clinton Admin. So, if it was not a true break, there was at least some modestly broader sharing of the proceeds.

Under Reagan, Bush, and BushII, the proceeds were far more restricted to the very top of the income distribution.

I think it is fair to say that Clinton was not adverse to folks making a little money a bit further down the scale.

25. They are still pushing their theocratic agenda.
The organized right-wing email campaigns assailing "liberals" for their "war on Christmas" and assailing anyone defending gay rights are in full swing these past weeks. People are receiving hate mail like you wouldn't believe.
