Pics from the ice storm Wash. Co, NY....dialup warning.
So I went out today to get a few pics of the massive ice storm that
hit the Northeast states on Friday. All pics were taken in
Washington County, NY which is northeast of Albany. My town Greenwich is
midway between Saratoga Springs NY and Arlington Vt.

Ice is hard to photograph. But these are some of the picture I got.

I lost power briefly a couple of times. No need to use the generator.
The weather is predicted to warm over the next couple of day which
should get rid of the ice by Monday.

For some reason the capytions I added to each pic in Photobucket didn't
accompany the pics sorry about that.

Enjoy and think about how to prepare for an emergency weather situation
in your area.

3. You did a great job capturing the frozen feel of the weather.
I love the last pic of the kids. They are so resilient and eager to keep on going. And by prepare do you mean. salt for the ice, and plenty of food in the pantry? If so I'm covered.

which is in the town of Saratoga. Saratoga the city is about 10 miles away.
And thanks to Syracuse for sending fifty trucks and crews to our area to
help put the power wires back up. Kudos to Syracuse. We are grateful for the help.

The damage it does is unbelievable. I lived in Norther Missouri for 20 years and there was always one ice storm every year and driving is so scary when it hits.

23. It was very soft ice.....just below freezing
turned on the defrosters and had the whole car cleared in about half an hour.

only took about ten minutes to get the door open. Had it been colder.......I probably
wouldn't have gotten to take pictures at all.

because of the massive amounts of debris from the trees. That debris in forests is bad later when its fire season.

Glad you are safe and warm.

54. Ooh! I really love that field and mountain shot!
Thanks for posting. This kind of storm is why I left New England and moved to Denver. It snows here, but we get so much sun it's usually melted in just a couple days. and I've NEVER, in the 7-odd years I've lived here, seen an ice storm. I mean, ice storms are lovely after the fact, but a bear to have to deal with in any other way. I bet that one house with the massive branch down in their front yard woke up in shock and still can't believe their good luck that it missed their house!

BTW, my son still lives in Western Mass and I haven't been able to reach him yet, so I assume his lines are down in the same way they are in your photos.
