Bush touts successes in fight against drugs
President Bush on Saturday emphasized his administration’s role in curbing the nation’s drug usage during his time in the White House.

With less than six weeks left in office, Bush trumpeted his collaboration with faith-based groups and the Access to Recovery program as contributing to a significant drop in marijuana and methamphetamine usage.

“Through our Access to Recovery program, addicts receive vouchers they can redeem at treatment centers of their choice, including faith- based centers,” Bush said. “So far, this program has helped more than 260,000 addicts along the path toward clean lives.”

Bush’s weekly address drew on his meeting Thursday with recovering addict and Texas Rangers baseball star Josh Hamilton, in which he echoed his threefold plan of reducing the demand of drugs, prohibiting their supply, and assisting people addicted to drugs.

“Eight different treatment programs failed to turn his life around,” Bush said of Hamilton. “But the intervention of his grandmother, the support of his wife, and the loving influence of God did.”

5. More marijuana arrests, what a hero.
NOT.

Who in their right mind thinks arresting people for pot is helping anyone? Legalize it already!

Meth, OTOH, is evil shit. But I don't buy that they've made much progress against it. Meth heads just get stronger stuff from Mexico now. Yippee.

7. "...the path toward clean lives." Yeah, like the one he took.
One million innocent people slaughtered to get their oil. What would Jesus say?
Thousands of people tortured at Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo Bay and secret U.S. torture dungeons around the globe.
Billions of dollars gone missing in Iraq.
No-bid contracts for his cronies; multiple tax cuts for the rich.
A U.S. and world economy destroyed by filthy greed and lack of oversight. Billions hungry, homeless, jobless, displaced.
Shredding of the U.S. Constitution, the Geneva Conventions, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the UN Charter and numerous other laws and agreements.
Rampant government secrecy.
Rampant theft of the U.S. Treasury.
$6 BILLION in military funding to the worst government in South America, Colombia, where thousands of union leaders, small peasant farmers, political leftists, human rights workers and others have been slaughtered by rightwing death squads with close ties to the government and the military, in the murderous, corrupt, failed U.S. "war on drugs."
The Bushwhacks' only allies in South America: the two top cocaine producers (Colombia and Peru).

Clean lives. Heh-heh.
