The emotional part of me sympathizes with the thrower. After all, Bush wrecked the thrower's country.

But the thinking part of me says the thrower is a dick. He did more to embarrass his country and fellow reporters than humiliate Bush. Did you notice the alarm and the response of the reporters around the thrower? They raised their arms and tried to stop the second flying shoe as soon as they realized what was going on.

And, the fact that security let a second shoe get airborne was kind of weird. I guess they were in a secured area where everyone had some sort of background check done and there had been security/weapons screening of all attendees. So, the vicinity was considered safe.

Bush's response was humorous and light-hearted. Let's not go too far off on the cynical bandwagon. If Obama had this done to him, and made jokes about it like Bush, we'd all be applauding our brave leader.

Also - as much as I agree that W Bush is the worst president ever, and has the approval rating of Idi Amin - it just feels like shoes were thrown at America, and not just Bush.
