All of a sudden I'm getting a tinfoil feeling about yesterday's incident....
1. How did a known, hostile journalist get into the press conference?
2. How come he didn't throw the shoes when Two Shoes was turned away from him instead of when the later had a full scan of the audience? Also, the timing seemed too perfect.
3. By the way, how did the journalist get such a perfect spot to hurl his shoes? Also, how was he able to launch the second shoe so quickly after the first?
4. How did Two Shoes know the shoe size of the man so soon after the incident? There would be a thousand other things I would be concerned about - such as the breach of security - rather than the man's shoe size.

I smell Shitstain Shoots-Guy-In-Face and an attempt at legacy elevation.

9A. Always have eye contact with your target. That makes the insult far more exquisite.

6. He saw it coming.
There weren't very many people there. It was probably very obvious.

3. I can only opine on two of those
2 - He probably wanted to make sure Bush saw that he was being insulted.

4. I assumed he was trying to make a lame joke to brush off the situation, not making an astute observation.

Can you please flesh out how having an irate journalist throwing shoes at Bush elevates his legacy? I don't see it.

12. But that's the thing
It doesn't really do anything for people who didn't already support him (either openly or covertly), and the rest of the world seems to be ranging between "Good for that journalist for standing up to Bush" to "Hey, someone threw shoes at the President!" If it is a plot, it doesn't seem to be a well thought out one.

4. I wonder how that conversation went
Karl Rove "OK here's my plan. We have someone throw shoes at you."

Pres. Bush "What?"

Karl Rove "Someone throws shoes at you. And with your quick reflexes, you get out the way. It will show you are presidential."

Pres. Bush "I'm not following you. You really think someone should throw shoes at you?"

Karl Rove "Yeah. We'll probably need to practice. Go stand over there and let me throw shoes at you."

Pres. Bush "No way, Karl. This is just silly."

Karl Rove "Trust me. I know what I'm doing."

Pres. Bush. "Well your the boss I guess."

Scrt Service Agent #1 "Guess Rove is still pissed about that Turd Blossom thing."

Scrt Service Agent #2 "Looks like it."

5. I don't think so
B*sh was there to sell Iraq as being in good shape now, where they are happy the U.S. did what they did. Pissed off shoe chuckers hardly sells that message.

16. What message?
If Iraq really were in good shape, he wouldn't have had to travel there in secret, and he wouldn't have had to travel there in secret to announce that the troops were staying and nothing was going to change.

23. I dunno, from everything I've read, idiot son went over there to sign
the SOFA agreement and this little incident totally sucked the oxygen out of his 'shining moment'. It was a slap in the face/shoe towards the head, indicating Iraqis can't stand him as much as we can't.

11. He's getting no legacy elevation from this... In fact,
it has overshadowed the entire reason for BUsh* trip and press conference, made Bush* look the clueless fool he is and showed the world how hated the Bush boy and his minions truly are despite their propaganda.

15. Do you really think ANY of those Iraqi journalists are not
at least somewhat hostile? Good grief. They have all witnessed what has happened to their country. Some maybe more ready than others to "play ball," but I doubt, on some level, any of them don't harbor some hostility towards Bush*.

I mean, sure, I gave a nod to his reflexes but mostly, I just laughed my @ss off. I just don't see how this would have been a good idea for his admin.

The only reason that I actually responded was your 'Firefly' tagline...I miss that show.

Down and to the left....down and to the left. If the shoe doesn't fit they must aquit. There was definitely a shoeter in the grassy sand dune.

bouncing off the screen, and hitting maliki in the leg. The "magic shoe" theory is preposterous. Clearly there was a second shoeter.

Perhaps the 9/11 forum could be extended to accommodate threads on this theory, which certainly has equivalent plausibility to most of the stuff already being discussed there.
