1. Everyone was checked before they went in. There was security,
though I guess no one considered shoes could be weapons.

13. Shoes are not really weapons.
Just annoying and symbolic ways of making a statement.

Of course, that means incarceration and isolation..
and who knows what else..for the hurler. I doubt
he will ever see the light of day again.

He must have known that the punishment would far
exceed the crime in his case, but he did it anyway.

Wow!

4. how so?
it is pretty obvious no grenade was allowed in there so in that sense the security was just fine. Of course you could not possibly be advocationg leg-irons and had-cuffs for all journilists do you? removal of all shoes before taking notes? Seriously, i don't see how this question is even being posed...

9. Former SS agent was just discussin this on MSNBC, He said
that for confrences held at places like the WH, the Green Zone in Bagdad, and other controlled crowd sites, there aqre magnatometers, all attendees have been screened and are known to security, and the Iraqis even did patdowns, so the SS gives the Prez some space.

the most lethal thing he could get through security with was his shoe.

18. Remember when a guy actually did throw a grenade at Bush in Georgia?
European Georgia that is. http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/07/21/bush.grenade/index.html

Amazing it turned out to be a dud. I think time-cops from the future must have saved him.

unless he'd shoved it up his ass, and then it would have been difficult enough to retrieve that someone would have noticed.

They were screened but got to keep their clothes on. Comparison doesn't work.
