14. Oh My God !

I have three prints of this that I bought from Mimi. I have mine framed and it looks awesome. I have one for my son for Xmas and the third I gave to my FedEx man and his wife who were so supportive and encouraging while I worked on the Obama campaign.

about all kinds of Obama related art in every media you can imagine. This painting caught my eye because I had saved it for my desktop when Mimi first let DU see it. I told her then that she should send it to the White House as an innagural gift. I guess in a way, she has! :)

22. DU'ers who Love Art and have Traveled to Italy need to Check out her Blog!

Mimi Torchia Boothby's Blog is an incredible "Travel Log" of information about Art, Music and Travel in Italay. Her experience (in her "older blogs" if you click through) with her vists to relatives in Sicily is just incredible. Not only is she an interesting artist she's an incredible writer. And...for DU Cat Fanatics...her watercolors of how "cats see their world" and her writings about them are great "soul candy" for our minds.

On a Saturday night there's nothing better for many of our souls than to spend time over at her site. I'd seen the Obama Portrait posted here on DU ...but not known what she was about until I spent some time on her website. It's truly a treat for starving minds... Check it out....I'm glad this DU'er did. And if you go to Sicily...be sure you avoid it at the times she traveled there and make sure you check out those "local families to stay with that will involve you in the local culture" before you go.

Her experience with staying with "one" local family (not her relatives) meant she ended up with a "chain-smoking, Tee Vee Addict who was Depressed" but then when she returns she visits her own relatives and that's a treat that could be a wonderful short story if anyone bothered these days to read short stories somewhere out there.

Check it out....Her Art is incredible in her "Mix" and her commentary is delightful....I spent a delightful hour over there...and it was worth my time...even though my Christmas Tree isn't up yet and I have relatives coming and my house needs cleaning and I'm in a dither.
