Letter from Michelle Obama

Letter from Michelle Obama

This holiday season, the grassroots movement you helped build can make a big difference for those in need.

I hope you will join me in supporting your favorite charity or contributing to causes that are especially meaningful to me and my family.

While many of us will spend the holidays counting our blessings and sharing dinner with loved ones, millions of people around the country won't be so fortunate. Donating to your local food bank will help provide a holiday meal to people in your community who can't afford one.

Talking with the families of deployed troops was one of the most rewarding experiences I had during the campaign. Giving to Operation USO Care Package is a great way to send members of our military stationed around the world a reminder that someone back home is thinking of them.

This is a time to celebrate our blessings, the new year, and a new era for our country. But it's also a time to come together on behalf of those who need our help.

Do what you can to help today by locating your local food bank and giving your support:

Or send a care package to an American in uniform:

Thank you for all that you do and have a very happy holiday season,

Michelle

1. What a beautiful family
The new "Face of America" is such a huge improvement over what we have just had, it is no wonder the entire world is rejoicing..

5. K&R! For those of you with extra income, I suggest buying a toy for an underpriviledged child...
I know that food is more important than toys (when it comes to those in need), but I still try to buy at least one toy every Christmas season for those trees at the mall that have wish lists on them.

Also, canned goods can be stored by food banks long after the Holiday season ends... so if they need it now, they can use it.... or they can wait till after the Holidays to give it out.

Anyone who has money for a movie ticket (and I know some on DU don't have that for their budget) has money to help others at least once a year.

Thank you Michelle!

6. We always join in an adopt-a-family at our jobs
and take a child's name or 2 off of a tree to get presents for.

7. Imagine taking their "list" from the campaign and using it to HELP people!
How DARE Obama! What a f*&%ing toad he is to slap us all in the face this way... Er--wait--they did something really cool and really smart? Wow. Watch this thread sink like a rock...

(For the humor impaired this was an attempt to be biting yet mildly funny.)

We got that same message and to tell the truth it kinda choked us up a little bit to even read it.

I have never seen a national campaign do anything ike this before and I am SO very proud of the Obamas for taking the time--let alone even thinking of it. While I realize a lot of people are hurting right now, I think it is simply awesome to consider the idea that our new President realizes it too, and actually CARES enough to use whatever resources he has personally to try and help.

A new era has begun in our country and it really IS up to us all to give Obama the help he needs--now and in the upcoming years.
