Re: E. Edwards, On CNN John Roberts just said from sources "Do not assume the worst"

He said sources were telling them it may be some difficult medical news, but in regards to the campaign, they were told "do not assume the worst".
Prayers for Elizabeth Edwards.

Edit: to clear it up he said their sources were telling them they may have had some difficult medical news, but the sources said in regards to the campaign, to not assume the worst. I took that to maybe mean, she may have gotten some bad medical news, but that perhaps it is not so bad to stop the campaign. Who knows, John Roberts probably is just guessing, but I took it as perhaps a glimmer of hope, first for Elizabeth but even possibly for the campaign.

2nd EDIT: from NYTimes blog: http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/03/21/edwards-wife-to-hold-news-conference-after-medical-news/

Whether Mr. Edwards would drop out of the 2008 field, or curtail his campaign appearances because of a possible reoccurence of Mrs. Edwards’s cancer, remained unknown.
Ms. Bedingfield refused to elaborate.
“I’m not going to comment,'’ she said.
Update from The Times’s John Broder: Mrs. Edwards, in a brief interview from her home in Chapel Hill last night, said she and Mr. Edwards would hold a news conference Thursday night about her health, but declined to elaborate. “I’m still here,” she said.
Jennifer Palmieri, communications director for the campaign, said that she would not provide any details in advance of Thursday’s press conference.
We were told not to assume the worst.

2. She is in mine.
I ain't a praying person, as a rule. But for Elizabeth, I can make the effort.

3. not assume the worst about the campaign or her health?
that is a little confusing and worrisome.

that she may be having some health problems, but that he's going to continue with the campaign?

Well, I'm still hoping for the best - Elizabeth is in my prayers!

8. Some here perhaps do not realize this ...
Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 11:17 PM by Trajan
Elizabeth Edwards is a DUer, and has been here more than a few times, speaking her 'truly' beautiful mind .....

And perhaps you do not know that Elizabeth had been diagnosed and treated for breast cancer, and so she certainly has 'health problems' ....

I wonder sometimes how hurt she is from some of the bile that is pumped in here .... you know: the regular dose of 'two minutes hate' that is spewed against her husband with unbecoming regularity ....

I dont care how big their house is .... and though I think John made a huge mistake sponsoring the IWR, I do believe he is a wonderfully caring man who deserves our collective respect ...

I doubt Elizabeth spends too much time here anymore .... it must pain her to see that kind of negativity ....

Elizabeth ? ... We love you, and we stand with you .....

And thank you ........

11. Yeah, she used to occasionally
after the 2004 campaign especially, I believe. She's known to frequent blogs, message boards and such.

And was quite pleasant to us 'hoi polloi' ....

She has a wonderful heart and an honest sweetness that is refreshing and inspiring ...

9. There was a thread on this last night, I expressed concern that it was bad news then
and this morning the tee vee said all was well, per the campaign.

Now, we're hearing it might not be such swift news.

I'm thinking there's a problem. There's been two days of back-n-forth on this. I think they're deciding how to present something that is problematic.

Quite frankly, the "worst" would be a return of cancer. Screw campaigns. The guy is still plenty young, he can make another run in eight years if he has to--and maybe be the Attorney GENERAL in the meanwhile--hell,we could use a good one for a change...

13. If her health has taken a bad turn, I assume Sen. Edwards will say he is taking a break
from the campaign for a while.
