Are we going to get enough change to turn things around enough for the 21st century?

Are we going to get enough change to turn things around enough for the 21st century?
That is my concern. I think in the future, we will need to be more creative than just raising taxes to cover expenses while cutting public funding on our safety net while hoping a foreign policy based on violence for money or assets will prop it all up. I think it's critical we move towards single payer healthcare instead of repeating the "solutions" of the past in that area. We also need some sort of pension help for the elderly as corporations cut it from worker benefits. Otherwise, income stratification and a moribund economy will continue to dominate. I don't see a government philosophically geared for enough change unless I'm missing something.

1. Until we secure publicly funded elections in this country
We will never cut the corporate ties that bind the government, and thus won't achieve what is needed to keep this country progressive and prosperous. Our government is bound with corporate chains, and until they are cut, we'll never make any meaningful progress in this country.

2. Wish we could do something about that but it's been a straight march
in the wrong direction (with legislation supposedly geared to cut it out but full of intentional loopholes).
