Gak! Jeb Bush poised for Florida Senate run
Jeb Bush poised for Florida Senate run
By AMIE PARNES | 12/26/08 9:21 AM EST Updated: 12/26/08 9:21 AM EST

As Caroline Kennedy pursues her bright-lights, big-city bid for the U.S. Senate, another child of dynasty is quietly testing the waters for his own Senate run.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush – the son of one president and the brother of another – has been working the phones since Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) announced earlier this month that he won’t seek reelection in 2010. Sources say Bush hasn’t made up his mind yet about running for Martinez’ seat yet, but that he’s getting green lights from would-be contributors and blessings from Republican Party leaders.

Strategists and political observers take it as a sign that Bush will run.

"Everything indicates that he's in," said David Johnson, a Republican Strategist and the CEO of Strategic Vision. "You're not making calls and laying the ground work for fundraising unless you're clearing the field for your candidacy."

2. If Floridians want another dance with Jeb, so be it.
His election would only serve to paint the Republican Party closer into the corner than it already is. Let them marginalize themselves.

The Bush crime family is not quite finished with their plan to completely destroy our country.

We need a new law. Some sort of blanket prohibition of any of their evil fucking clan seeking any public office. :banghead:

6. Watch for Senator Bush to run in 2016 versus Hillary Clinton. You heard it here first.
This was the plan when Jeb retired... Martinez stepped aside for the GOP dream of Bush III. 2016 should be interesting in terms
of dynastic presidential ambition.

7. Apparently he needs to be shown how reviled the Boosh name is now.

If he runs he'll find out.

8. Not necessarily in FL. My FL friend who voted Democratic in the last
two presidential cycles thought he did a pretty decent job as Governor. She hasn't realized the path he is staking for himself, or how deep the Boosh financial plot runs.

12. Hard to believe people will just ignore the fact that Jeb signed the original NeoCon Manifesto, i.e.
the Project for the New American Century document -- is this just going to be allowed to fade into the past?

I hope our constantly-emerging alternate news sites can keep this in the forefront of the public consciousness.

Or maybe "public consciousness" has become an oxymoron.

do for this country is to invent a way we could detach the state of Florida from the rest of the US and let it float away.

edit: THIS IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST REASONS WE MUST INVESTIGATE, WE MUST PROSECUTE THE BFEE FOR THEIR CRIMES.

The way the market is down there now, in the toilet, he probably needs some cash. The "little brown ones" got to eat.

20. At least Florida went for Obama
..I like Debbie Wasserman Schultz' take on it..

"But Democratic Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz says a Jeb Bush run wouldn’t be the cakewalk that some of his supporters seem to expect. She says the former governor “left the education system in tatters,” and she calls him “literally the most inflexible public official I’ve ever encountered in my 16 years in office."

"He does not play nice with others," Wasserman Schultz said. "This is not a person who was sensitive to people who have needs and who are struggling. He's focused on people who are doing well."

Wasserman Schultz said she has found Charlie Crist, the current Florida governor, to be "much more flexible and open-minded."

It depends on who the Democrats nominate..if they have the fire in their belly or not.

21. Hey
Do not forget is was Florida democrats like me that helped turn that State Blue this year, and helped put the nail in McCain's coffin! Yes, Jeb gets a lot of passes, namely because he was wise enough not to let his brother put oil rigs on our breaches, but we know full well down here that Jeb is a corrupt SOB. If you want to see a real problem, it's Charlie Crist. He does enough superficially "nice" things that people do not realize he is a right winger, ala the Rick Warren/Sarah Palin/these people aint all that bad defense
