After all this cold and ugly weather. Its nice out today here in So-Cal

Nice day today, went outside to take some photos.

1. Our neighbors have their three adult children visiting...

...our SoCal Coastal Community from other places from all over the Country.

The two guys were out there the other day in shorts and sweatshirts skateboarding.
Their daughter was outside washing her old car (left with mom and dad) getting ready
to take it for a spin.

The mom said it was just like (sigh) the old days.

2. Snow here in the Rio Grande Valley is sublimating

because the temperature has barely managed to struggle up to 30 degrees and the air is super dry, humidity under 10% out there. It's amazing to see a snow patch simply evaporate with no sign of melting.

Our gradual warmup is going to start tomorrow, with temps in the 50s by Monday.

I'm not going to post pictures. I don't want to go out there again.

3. I remember back in the 80's

When I served in the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis, WA as an infantryman. Oh man, to be honest I do not enjoy the cold weather at all.

It was gorgeous yesterday and now it's back to cold and mucky. And I'm sure it's heading your way.

5. I hiked among waterfalls and 71 degrees in Central-eastern Ohio.

Packed the kids, dogs and relatives into the car, drove ~ 50 miles from Columbus OH and found although some falls were still frozen many were flowing beautifully. It was a little muddy but otherwise a beautiful day!

9. We got to 48 degrees, which is quite welcome.

The snow melted off the trees, and began melting off of roofs. It is soggy, sloppy, and messy out there, and slipperier than it's been during the 10 days of frozen snowfall, when everything was dry powder and never warmed up enough to get wet enough to make ice.

No bare patches of ground yet. Some, but not all, of the plumbing has thawed.

I hope we finish thawing soon.
