1. TW did this with a local Austin station a few months ago.
Eventually they worked out a deal and it's back on. Just the way TW does business. They make the East India Tea Company look good.

3. Here's a solution: Put up a small dish and then laugh at the cable companies
Cable sucks.

4. Channels appear and disappear on Direct TV
but the only one I've missed is CCTV9. At least they kept it through the Olympics. At least I can still stream it online.

Bottom line: it's going to happen on any paid service. If they wipe out a channel you like, it's time to complain. That's the only way they're going to know they did something that might lose them customers.

6. Aren't all cable companies a monopoly in the areas that they operate in?
There are only so many lines hung in most communities and to have more than one companys lines running all over a single location is an expense that most don't want unless they can be assured of so much of the market share for that area to make the investment worthwhile.

It's the single cable provider or a dish service and no other options because there is no built in competition due to the cost of building the network.

7. Cable monopolizes MSNBC, so I can't get it. ATT UVerse loses out.
MSNBC made a deal with cable that they'd be the only carrier of MSNBC if cable was the first to own a telephone line.

It stinks. I also don't get their news12 or traffic, which I miss. But I like ATT and it's a good price.

They're all bastards.
