A hope for a silver lining?
Some of the big name businesses that are failing are failing not because the core business isn't doing so well. They're failing because their greedy fuck owners used these otherwise sound businesses to leverage some other bullshit adventure.

Newspapers are a good example of this. Sure, ad revenues are down, but not to catastrophic levels ....... except where the revenues were paying for the paper's operations PLUS the greedy fuck owner's other bullshit adventures.

The media seems to be riddled with this sort of thing.

The NY Times

The WaPo

Zell's little empire.

Murdoch isn't flying so high these days, either.

And so forth.

Now would be a good time for some actual news person to buy a paper or two at fire sale prices. I bet a mere 5 or 10 million could get one a decent mid-to-big city paper. Lotsa people still have that kinda cash.
