Clear Channel removed liberal talk from San Diego because they bashed the President
"One day Albert realized that “traditional radio advertisers — banks, mortgage companies, and business owners, who tend to be more conservative — didn’t want to advertise on KLSD. They’d try it for a month or two, and they’d get complaints from consumers. They were uncomfortable with advertising on a station where the host was bashing the President and corporate America, U.S. businesses. We were all disappointed that KLSD, the only liberal station in San Diego, was not delivering enough revenue.” This cinched his decision to change the station from progressive talk to sports."

I guess this means all the right wing hate radio talk will be removed effective Jan 20, 2009?

1. No but the Liberal NPR will be back.
after firing all the conservative whiners, NPR will be stocked with liberal radio hosts as long as Obama and the rest of the Dems hold power.

They should begin by snapping up the poor folks that got fired when RW radio was taken over.

Then the advertisers will realize they are making a FATAL mistake supporting right-wing fucknuts.

2. That pissed me off cuz I was tuning in to
Stacy Taylor's morning show cuz the dolts at Air America decided Lionel was a better choice than Sam Seder. Putzes. Now I don't listen to KLSD and Air America only rarely.

4. Liberals need to get used to writing and complaining when they bash the president
after 1-20..and maybe try to have someone at a newspaper or magazine write about the upcoming double-standard...and maybe complain to those sponsors about the presidential bashing..

two can play that game..

11. Trust me. . . We are not on a level playing field with the Corporate Lords
who have the power to dictate what they want us to hear.

5. The banks, huh?
Seems to me the banks need to get on their knees to the liberal venues and start to beg.

FCC Chairman's Seat Up for Grabs

Julius Genachowski, Larry Strickling among handful of contenders to succeed oft-embattled FCC Chairman Kevin Martin
By John Eggerton -- Broadcasting & Cable, 12/1/2008

Major departmental shifts are coming left and right in Washington, but one change is of primary interest to broadcasters: the new chairmanship of the FCC.

A handful of contenders have emerged to succeed oft-embattled Chairman Kevin Martin, whose exit is likely by early January. Among those atop the list are a pair of Barack Obama insiders (Julius Genachowski and Larry Strickling) and two more figures with FCC experience (Don Gips and Blair Levin).

Martin has not said when he will depart, and he could technically remain on as a commissioner after a new chairman—an interim chairman at first—is named after President-elect Obama takes the oath Jan. 20.

9. I am very much excited for this FCC stuff.
IT is the Corporate media that is the source of most of our problems. CNN was really into the "war" coverage today. They were quite excited....so much so, that if compelled me to change the channel and watch a movie instead. I have never been one to want to watch War coverage....especially, when it isn't a war that I support....which is most of them.

7. We need to keep a running list of companies that advertise on conservative
programs. People can make their own decisions about buying or not buying, writing complaint or support letters, but the names should be made available to those of us who do not listen to those programs.

8. NPR "liberal"?? --
Edited on Sun Jan-04-09 04:18 AM by snot
i assume that's meant ironically.

More seriously, many of us have been writing the media for years, with no perceptible result; even the most enlightened journalists are behind the curve.

We need to pound Congress to restore restrictions on consolidated ownership and above all to protect the internet, which is already in dire jeopardy. And do everything else we can think of.

12. That's What I Thought Too
Geez, in SoCal there's hundreds of stations. Don't like one, switch the channel. But no! Let's complain that someone is bashing an elected official with an approval rating of 20%.
