GwB43: The White House, vote theft, and the email trail
GwB43: The White House, vote theft, and the email trail
GWB43 is the name of an internet server owned by the Republican National Committee.

Oddly enough, communications revealed in the course of the Great U.S. Attorney Purge document dump reveal that key figures within the administration used such email addresses as SJennings@gwb43.com.

The White House has its own internal email system, ending in the .gov suffix, as mandated by the Presidential Records Act. As Citizens for Ethics and Responsibility in Washington (CREW) notes:

CREW has learned that to fulfill its statutory obligations under the PRA, the White House email system automatically copies all messages created by staff and sends them to the White House Office of Records Management for archiving. It appears that the White House deliberately bypassed the automatic archiving function of its own email system that was designed to ensure compliance with the PRA. http://www.citizensforethics.org/press/newsrelease.php?view=214

So why are White House personnel using private email addresses to bypass this system?

8. Why does anyone presume there will be any records there to get?
There is no requirement to maintain email or records on a private server, even a shared server which this one looks to be. All you have to do is turn off logging and email retention. There will be nothing there to find and no penalty for not having it.

9. Why presume there's a presumption?
I simply asked a question -- I didn't mention one way or the other any "requirements." I know from my own personal experience that my web host keeps backups and when the server crashes (rare, but it has), they're able to quickly restore everything, including the emails on my account.

If these folks were un-savvy enough to let this much info get out there about gwb43.com, then they may not have bothered to "turn off logging and email retention." Who knows?

11. Any number of post here have assumed that a dump of that server will bring down the government...
FWIW There was only one intial pointer from an email .sig. Much of the rest has been from doing NS lookups etc, followed by a review of the DOJ material.

12. If they're using gwb43.com to do an end run around a paper trail, it should be looked into.

If they're dodging paper trails by using a non-government server to plan their schemes, then that warrants investigation like everything else in this puzzle. If there's nothing to be found, then fine, but when you poke a stick in this bunch, more dirt always turns up.

It just goes on and on with this administration.

19. Humans are lazy and migrate to the obvious. IMHO
There's that "Spaceballs" joke about the combination to the airlock and it's also "Darth's" luggage combination -- 12345. I'll bet you 10-1 the secret password to shooting off all the nukes is 12345. :)

3. Thanks for explaining the problem.
May I suggest you re-title your post? I didn't realize that using a private server was a means of skirting the law.

18. RICO RICO RICO!!!!
This reeks of RICO predicates, their whole filthy Bushevik network is a RICO Organization that makes the Gambino Crime Family look like a grade-school gang.

The evidence is all over the place. If not for the political pressures and the deaths that would begin to mount as we got closer to a BushCheney conviction, the case could be made EASILY, so many crimes have been performed so openly for so long now.

21. I asked that same question 2 days ago!!!!
Having worked for the feds a long time I know that records management is a vital part of every agency and each agency MUST keep those records accoring to the law. Emails are no exception. To be using an outside email server specifically to get around those requirements is not only suspicious but probably criminal as well. And to bypass the copying of emails from an illegal server to the real server PROVES SOMETHING IS GOING ON PEOPLE!! For gods sake!

26. Let's start with putting Susan Bonzon Ralston under oath for this
and maybe some other known White House Jack Abramoff contacts (Karl Rove, Barry Jackson, Ken Mehlman, Ruben Barrales Jennifer Farley)-plus a lot of other Republican liars and criminals.
