Judge Allows Daughters To Sue Over Father's Captivity In Iraq
http://kotv.com/news/local/story/?id=123156

A federal judge is allowing the daughters of an Oklahoma man who was held captive in Iraq to sue the Iraqi government over their emotional distress.

In a 77-page ruling, District Judge John D. Bates rejected arguments from the Iraqi and U.S. governments that the lawsuit would interfere with foreign policy.

Bates ruled that the daughters would have to provide evidence that they suffered emotionally after oil field worker Ken Beaty was taken captive in 1993.

Beaty and his wife already sued the Iraqi government along with the families of three other captives. That federal lawsuit won $19 million for the detainees and their spouses.
