Remote-controlled poison dart shooter found at horse race track...
Edited on Thu Mar-22-07 06:57 PM by LiberalHeart
This is one of the creepiest non-political stories I've read in a very long while:

http://newsgrinder.blogspot.com/2007/03/poison-dart-shooter-found-near-starting.html

Edited to show that it's a "horse" race track.

2. Don't you love how unconcerned folks seemed -- the race must go on --
...even though they don't know what was in the darts or what was intended? And the organized crime speculation seems odd to me. Is organized crime that obvious when they pull off a fix?

5. No, organized crime is a lot more obvious than this!
Real gangsters go to the jockey and tell him they will break his legs, unless. Or lean on the horse owner. Or have someone else inside who can fix things for them.

Scratch that. Real gangsters own the racetrack in the first place.

This sounds more like the work of ambitious, technically gifted (and yet somehow very stupid) young folk.

3. it's too bad...
...that they didn't covertly disable the darts, and try to catch whoever would have been controlling the remote. Makes catching the bad guys a lot more likely. Of course, if you really don't...

I think the bad-guys have been watching too much TV!
