God damn you rush limpballs!
I read that he hopes the President Obama will fail in everything he does. Does anyone here monitor that asshole?

My roomate and long-time friend, who owns the house I'm living in, buys limpballs bullshit hook, line, and sinker. I was telling him last night that the UN Rapporteur for Torture wants the U.S. to pursue bushco for violations of the Geneva Convention and about former NSA analyst Russell Tice is blowing the whistle about how bushco spied on journalists and reporters as well as political opponents. His response:

"Waterboarding is not torture and the U.S. is not bound by the Geneva Convention." and "I don't have anything to hide so why does it matter if they tapped my phones? Do you have anything to hide?" and "Does Obama's new FOIA rules mean that Clinton's records will also be made available?" and he concluded by saying, regarding secrets of the bush admininstration, "There's some things we don't need to know."

I am so goddamned sick of that asshole limpballs poisoning the minds of my friends and loved-ones. My friend is so indoctrinated and so polarized that I feel I can't even attempt to set him straight without risking our friendship and my current living arrangement.

How oh how do we stop that asshole? Here we are in Obama's second day and I'm already desperately angered at the bullshit attempts to compromise President Obama's leadership by the reich-wingers and their poisoning of otherwise good people's minds.

4. Google the constitution of the United States
then find the part about signed treaties. It states right there that they are a part of our constitution once they are ratified. That means we are bound by them.

6. I asked him if he had read the text of the Geneva Convention. Of course
he hadn't. I explained that once the U.S. became a signatory of the GC, it was bound by it. He just shook his head. I'm limited in how forceful I can be because this is a person who does not react well to having his world view challenged.

I'm so miserable about all this.

7. None of us really have to pay attention to Rush. If we have an infected
roommate to contend with, we can still put Rush out of our own world and not go there. He is simple. He glorifies. He destroys. His winder is stuck on high. He is never going to change. His income comes from glorifying and destroying. He needs a lot of income. Very simple.

If he does change, we'll all hear about it without following him.

8. Water boarding is not torture?
Why don't you ask your roommate/long time friend if he'd like to test his theory? Offer to apply the procedure to him, I'm sure you can find many examples of how it's done on the net.

Make sure to provide him with a safe word though, just in case he decides it is torture after all!

23. Waterboard your dog, and you will be arrested....
deny your child sleep and you will be arrested...It's torture, it's abuse, and serves absolutely no purpose but to terrorize.

10. You can't stop him from being a ridiculous asshole ... but you can
stop listening to him, and therefore find some other useful activity for your time. When you identify yourself as his victim ... he wins! As far as his influence on "good" people's minds ... You have a potentially stronger influence, by living the truth you believe, and remaining open, and therefore becoming a compelling example to follow. You must already know, that you can't convince someone who will not hear, no matter how much you argue, or how many facts you present. I know this sounds trite, but it will end up being the most effective thing you can do, in addition to controlling your addiction to outrage and anger. You had to have known this was coming ... Here it is ... You are in control not him!

peace ...

13. You seem to have misunderstood me. I have NEVER listened to
rush limbaugh except in those rare instances when something he's done shows up on a msm outlet like MSNBC or CNN. I am seriously considering monitoring his broadcasts myself in a "know thine enemy" way.

14. Although I kind of doubt he'd understand,
you might want to let him know that modern sound editing software can easily make him say "Waterboarding is torture and the U.S. is bound by the Geneva Convention." They can even change the inflections so you would never know by listening that you had not said that exact quote. It's easy to take anything out of context and make you say what they want you to say. Would he be alright with me doing the same to his words? ;)

16. Really shouldn't let this dude get you spun up
Rush has become a charicature of himself. I used to listen to his show many years ago and sometimes found him funny. I disagreed with him the vast majority of the time, but I found him funny. These days he's just a talking head spitting out right wing crazy talking points. he's like some sort of human slot machine. Drop in an oxycotin and he goes on a rant about some bit of stupidity. He doesn't make arguments anymore, just slams anything remotely left. Rush, Coulter, Beck and a handful of others have pretty much gone off the deep end.

Rush may be poisining your roommates' mind, but that's a double-edged sword...your roommate is the one sniffing the bullshit and saying it's roses.

Why do you want to stop him? Because you disagree with him? He's got just as much a right to free speach as any left wing radio and TV personalities.

There is nothing you can do in the face of willful ignorance. Save your sanity, just smile and change the subject.

18. Rush and the neocons have peddled the
"I don't have anything to hide so why does it matter if they tapped my phones? Do you have anything to hide?" bullshit for years.

Between that crap and the takeover of the GOP by the fundamentalists, the party pushed out the libertarians that were a significant constituency for them previously.

19. Funny Thing is
Rush DID have something to hide. At a minimum, and addiction to prescription pain killers which he was abusing. I'm sure if we dug around the Limbaugh closet, we'd find all sort of interesting things.

I bet Rush has a lot to hide...

24. Ask your roomate if he would like to test that "waterboarding is not torture" theory personally
With him playing the waterboardee and you the waterboarder. I'm betting that he would not take you up on that offer and if he did, he would change his mind pretty quickly about it. I think we should have done the same to Bush, Cheney and anybody else who says that it is not torture. If it is not, then put your "money where your mouth is" motherfuckers!!
