Even though the 911 attacks happened within the first 9 months of Bush's presidency, it was all Clinton's fault. At least, according to most of the RW pundits. So if any major terrorist attack hits the US within the first few months of Obama's administration, then by the same logic, it would all be the previous president's fault, right?

Similarly there were 49 dems in the senate in 2006 and 49 republicans with one independent leaning (D) and one independent who had to leave the democratic party to get reelected, so per right wing logic the (D's) solidly and without a doubt had a lock strong control of the senate.

See, the Bush presidency never really happened in right wing logic. For the first eight months, George Dubya was manfully struggling with the federal budget surpluses bequeathed to him by Bill Clinton. It was a lonely, herculean task to figure out how to turn all that money over to his overrich pals so they could have a big party. Then 9/11 happened, and the rest of his first term was swallowed up by becoming a war president.

Then, after the 2004 election, George Dubya was all set to start spendin' some political capital, boy. But then those hurricanes hit, and the Terri Schiavo case interrupted one of his vacations, and just kind of threw him totally off stride. Before you knew it, the 2006 elections had occurred. Now, it's true that the Democrats controlled Congress but were still pretty supine when it came to being an actual party of opposition, that just bugged George Dubya no end that a chick was running the House. You know how it can be for manly commander guy decider types.

Well, finally, along about June 2008, George Dubya was ready to start his presidency. He was going to have that whole Middle East situation licked into shape, and his awesome MBA abilities were going to right every wrong. But wouldn't you know it? He got caught up in the Michael Phelps Olympic performance, then there was that other chick - the one from Alaska? - and then suddenly nobody was paying attention to him anymore. Then the 2008 election happened, and he was just out of time, darn the luck!

So, you see, George W. Bush never really got a chance to be president.
