I do not have a link but I recall hearing a discussion on NPR with Cokie Roberts about a couple of Congressmen who did this because, as Cokie said, they were "cheap." That was a few years ago but I remember thinking at the time "No wonder Armey looks like such a mess" which is what you look like when you sleep in your office and use the House gym as your bathroom.

When I saw what Armey said on "Hardball" last night, I immediately recalled that program. Did anyone else hear it (I don't think I made it up)?

2. Armey's A Bitter Turd...

IRC, He and Denny Hastert hung out at that Gym a lot. Also lived with their aides...a pretty strange arrangement.

Armey was always a pig...both in appearance and in his political skills. He got steamrolled by DeLay and has been bitter ever since. I think he sees the implosion of his party as his chance to make a comeback. His antics last night were an embarssment, but I'm sure he thought he did great.

Kudos to both Joan Walsh and then Bob Herbert for calling this slimebag out on his bullshit. It demonstrates how desperate and pathetic the GOOP has become.
