1. So damn depressing...
I could barely get through this Alternet article on the rise in suicides, murders, and bank robberies due to the economy:

http://www.alternet.org/workplace/123563/

The body count is still rising. For months on end, marked by bankruptcies, foreclosures, evictions, and layoffs, the economic meltdown has taken a heavy toll on Americans. In response, a range of extreme acts including suicide, self-inflicted injury, murder, and arson have hit the local news. By October 2008, an analysis of press reports nationwide indicated that an epidemic of tragedies spurred by the financial crisis had already spread from Pasadena, California, to Taunton, Massachusetts, from Roseville, Minnesota, to Ocala, Florida.

11. I have been wondering when these stories would start rolling in
I guess with the M$M they won't be covered, just like the dead soldiers returning in caskets weren't covered.
I expect it to be happening around here soon.

3. This is why efforts to help people in need is so urgent ....
Repubs who insist that our priorities should be tax breaks for businesses and corporations, and protecting the wealth of mult-millionaires, over the needs of those unemployed, uninsured and hungry, are complicit with the deaths of those literally on the brink.

What Congress does or does not do ALWAYS has consequences ....

6. can we finally say the economy is creating at least one per week at this point?
Stories like this make me want to do this: :banghead:

The crime rate is going up, domestic violence is on the rise. Poverty does cause stress. Injustice does lead to violence. Desparate people DO commit desparate acts.

Yes, it's fair to say the economy is creating these at least once a week. Not all of them are making national headlines.

10. All dead from gunshot wounds ......
I wonder what would have happened if they did not have a gun? Do you think they would have beaten each other to death?

13. I beg to differ....read the article.
"Out of respect for the family, detectives are not releasing the actual motive, but it's not financial, and he was employed," Kelso said.
