1. Wouldn't "RNC" and "head" be mutually exclusive?

8. That is too bad...
Blackwell would have done to the RNC what he did to the Republic Party in Ohio. After the 2006 election for the State of Ohio governorship the Republic Party in Ohio was a shambles and Blackwell was one of the main reasons. Strickland (D) beat him in a landslide! Also Blackwell is so far right he makes Bush* and Adolf look like moderates. I would put Blackwell in Palin territory but he is not as smart as Palin.

Duncan Done as Republican Chairman, Blackwell Drops Out of Race
Updated Jan. 30, 2009 – 3:13 p.m.

By Jonathan Allen, CQ Staff

Incumbent Robert M. “Mike” Duncan has abandoned his bid for a second term as head of the Republican Party.

He dropped out of the race after falling behind in a five-way contest for Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman.

“The winds of change are blowing at the RNC,” Duncan said to thundering applause.

Duncan did not endorse any of the remaining contenders.

After Duncan’s name was withdrawn, Katon Dawson, the chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party catapulted into first place on the next ballot with 62 votes, and the last-place finisher, former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, dropped out, too.
