Bush put us in danger and why Gitmo should be closed.
There are a couple of things that have been nagging me and I have finally come here to discuss them. The first thing that amazed me was that right before Bush left office he admitted how much danger he put all of us in. He freely admitted this during his legacy tour. I am amazed more people did not grab onto it and really get upset - especially his followers who have insisted how safe he kept us.

Bush openly admitted that they kept track of anyone who was released from Gitmo. These prisoners were released during his reign and he told us that many went back to the battlefield. In fact, he told us one went back to become a top Al Qaeda operative!!!! Isn't Al Qaeda the group that is hell bent on our destruction?

Let me get this straight, Bush let a bunch of prisoners go and one actually went back to a top position in an organization who wants to hurt us any way they can and they kept enough tabs on this guy to know what groups he hung out with but not close enough to collect him and stop him from doing harm to our citizens?

Right there, isn't Bush showing he needs to take responsibility for the next attack since he is the one that set so many dangerous people free? Yes, when the next attack comes I will be first in line to shout that Bush never should have let such dangerous men free. At least Obama is trying to bring the other men to trial to see if they are guilty or pose a danger. Did Bush flip a coin to see who would be set free?

The next idea knocking around in my head is about how Republicans always complain about how well prisoners at Gitmo are treated. First we heard about the wonderful lemon chicken they get to eat. Today, on Rush's show, I heard about the wonderful Baklava the pastry chef at Gitmo made. The guy subbing for Rush does not even like Baklava but this Baklava he adored.

Clearly this is one area in which we can agree with Republicans. It is quite obvious that they feel George Bush has coddled the terrorists. How else would you describe world class meals for people who never stop thinking about ways to hurt us? It is clear that Gitmo does not know how to treat prisoners and therefore should be shut down at once. All of these prisoners need to be transferred to US prisons where they would eat gruel and have no special treatment at all.

Clearly we have much more in common with Republicans than we ever thought possible. Now is the time to join together and make sure all of Bush's mistakes are rectified. We must act swiftly and act now.
