Texas evangelicals helped effort to stop Palin 'troopergate' probe

By Sean Cockerham | Anchorage Daily News

JUNEAU — New state gift disclosures show it cost Liberty Legal Institute and the two law firms working with it $185,000 to represent six Alaska legislators in an unsuccessful lawsuit to halt their colleagues' "troopergate" investigation into whether Gov. Sarah Palin acted improperly in firing the state's public safety director.

The legislators listed a $25,000 gift of services from the Texas-based Liberty Legal Institute. Liberty is the legal arm of the Free Market Foundation, which is associated with evangelical leader James Dobson's Focus on the Family, and lists its guiding principles as limited government and promotion of Judeo-Christian values.

The lawmakers also disclosed a $120,000 gift of services from Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, a national firm that appeared at hearings on behalf of Liberty Legal.

1. More Dominionist Mental Defecatives...
Never forget that Blackwater, Inc. is tied up closely with these people, effectively being a private army for the Dominionists. It is a scary, scary scenario, in my opinion.

That Sarah Lapin is connected with these creeps is also scary.

2. What is it with these fuckers and the word "Liberty"?
The only "Liberty" they are interested in is "Liberty" for their fucked up "Judeo-Christian" values.

The fact that they "love" Sarah Palin is telling.
She's another Dubya and they know it.
So, let's write a big check.

Focus on the family, my ass.
Focus on money and power to push their sick "Judeo-Christian" values down my throat.

Eat shit and die, Dobson.

3. I wonder what the Liberty Legal Institute's tax status is.
We were all furious back in September when it became known that they were involved in the Troopergate obstruction. Here's Shannyn Moore's very excellent rant from October 1, GET THE F*%# OUT OF MY STATE! http://shannynmoore.wordpress.com/2008/10/01/get-the-f-out-of-my-state/

5. I kept asking who was paying for this, & here we go, it's organized religion, once again!
Perhaps it's time for up-front disclosure so we can keep tabs on whose noses are being stuck into our local, state, and national business.

I forced myself to sit and watch an hour of organized religion propaganda earlier tonight on TV discussing how "activist homosexuals" are intimidating and stripping Christians of their Constitutional rights. The information was so blatantly misrepresented or outright false, yet their sad-sack stories I'm sure appealed to those who cannot see the forest for the trees.

But back to this article, to me, I see this outside influx of money as tampering with the legislative process. The process up in Alaska, as the Coleman suit in Minnesota was/is being done as fairly as can be, yet these people still tamper/intrude only because they are not getting their own way. Damn the acting in good faith! I remember all too well, the antics to stop the Coup-2000 recounts, and being told to 'Get over it'.

Ticks me off.

As with the Stimulus, it's fuck the what's best for the country. Let's just let President Obama and those currently in power fail. It's the GOP way or no way.

Disgusting and disturbing.

6. Glad to hear they wasted their money.
It might otherwise have been spent on charity, maybe, but I tend to doubt that.
