It states in very plain terms AT THE TIME YOU DONATE that it is NOT tax deductible.
Anyone who has ever contributed knows this.
Again--not sure of the point?:shrug:

6. The point was that I was 99 sure it wasn't but my wife saw donation on a reciept.

But any penny I can deduct...it was worth a shot.

I really don't read the fine print when I generally donate to things I trust.

There really is no need to be know-it-allish about this.

7. You can't deduct any of your political contributions either.
Most of your charitable donations are going to be deductible, but be sure to get a receipt & you may have to donate the value of any goods received (you donate to a group & they send you a tote bag for example - the price of that may come of the donation before you can deduct it). Most of the big charities will send you a letter clearly stating what you donated, and what portion of it is deductible.
